    Default Good buy u think?

    Gday all,

Been looking at getting a wagon now for ages and now need to make a decision. Missed out on a few bargains which had me spitting chips, but found a 04 VZ Lumina wagon. 139k full history in vgc. Its $12k. Dealer. white Do you think thats reasonable? Dont know a great deal about Luminas dont see many around but the extra features make them look the bizz

    Thanks!

The Lumina is a spec'd up Executive:

This was a limited edition run from December 2004. 3,500 were manufactured. It was advertised as having $5,000 worth of additional features. Based on the V6 Executive, it features air conditioning, rear power windows, leather wrapped steering wheel, gear selector, handbrake handle, six-disc in dash CD player, upgraded multi-function trip computer, FE2 Sports Suspension, 17" wide-spoke alloy wheels (including steel spare wheel), rear spoiler (sedan), wagon roof rack, wagon dust deflector and roof rails in body colour, chrome exhaust tip, body colour side mouldings, black headlamp bezels, and unique interior trim.
So some nice little touches which sets it apart from the base model.

139,000kms is a fair bit for a car of that age, average I think is more like 70-80,000kms. I'd use that to try and talk the price down. Assuming it's been serviced properly and driven sensibly, the car should still be in good condition. Just make sure you check it out thoroughly. Get it inspected if you're not sure.

if you can get it closer to 10 thats good, its virtually a berlina wagon without climate control,

much much better alternative to a exec (as ive found out)

danja, k's arnt that far off for a 5 year old car, cars these days are putting on more and more k's than ever,

its hard to think though that vz's are up to 5 years old this year, only seemed like yesterday

yeah 12 seems a bit steep for a 5 year old car with 140k on the clock, try get closer to 10, if u can get it for under 11 i think thatd be a good buy, but i suppose it all depends on the condition on the car and how its been treated, but hey car dealers need to make their profits too

I know, getting old already Still, I'm happy with mine, still feels new

I checked Redbook recently, they reckon 70,000? Mine (2004 model) has just clocked 76,500.

At 140,000, if the car was sold in say March 05, would have done 35,000 a year, which isn't excessive by any means, but more than the average private vehicle.

Managed to get them down to $10,800 driveaway. one month rego left. 05 VZ Lumina 135ks. white wagon. Im from Gold Coast and its in Gladstone so bloody 6hours away. Called RACQ and they dont have any inspectors in that area so im gonna have to play it by ear..

They have had it for a while and i dont know why. Its a smick looking car and that and its a decent price, the cheapest one on the net. I always get a bit suss with stuff like that, makes it harder that its so far!

If its not this, its gonna be a 2004 KL Verada wagon...

I realise that different regions have different prices for used cars, but at the local Holden dealer yesterday (Central Coast, NSW), I was told that VY-VZ wagons are enjoying a bit of a resurgence on the used market, because people still want a large wagon and the VE is too small.

$10,800 for a Lumina seems reasonable to me. Distance travelled is not excessive and with care, it could be a good car for a long time. Just have to hope the previous owner felt the same way and it hasn't been pranged. Take your time checking it over and try to have someone with you to ensure you don't get carried away by its appearance.
