Default Looking at Purchasing a VZ SV6

Hi everyone - it'll be obvious from my lack of posts and stuff that I'm new here - I hope to be a regular when I get my ride ASAP!

To that end, I'd like some friendly advice on a VZ SV6 I am looking at - this seems to me to be the best deal out of all the one I have looked at, because it's only $500 more than others that are auto (I'd prefer a manual) and has less km's than other ones in the proce range, plus it has leather interior (have seen NONE in the proce range with leather) AND the dealer will send it thru a painter to have a scratch on the bonnet and some stone chips on the bumpers resprayed. Also the wheels look aftermarket - were there different wheel options on these cars? Will 18" wheels put the speedo out or cause any other probs?

I'm trading in a motorcycle and getting a real vehicle and have settled on the SV6 as it seems to offer everything I want - what do you guys think? Is this a good deal?

Note the price is $NZD....and is about 16,000AUD

$18,990? damn! that's cheap ! that's like $20 over here in australia mate! (lol inflation/exchange rate isn't that bad really ... or is it ???? heh)

Looks good dude, maintenance history, manual, and 05' meaning most likely LSD stock. I reckon do it.

$20,000 AUD is not cheap for a vz sv6. could have a VZ SS manual ute for a grand or two more.

Is there any way to tell if it has the LSD or a standard diff visually? It is in another city to me....the dealer will take pics of whatever I request so is there an easy way to tell?

There sure is a way to tell if it's LSD or not, plant a strip Do a quick search in this forum for the meaning of VIN numbers or a google search, someone has broken it down so you know what you are looking for to tell if it's factory LSD. Or, if it's manufactured after Feb 05' then you're about 99% chance of it being LSD.

And nicko, go and have a look at stock exchange prices mate, as stated by allun, because of the exchange rate, $20k NZ is about $16K AUD (not having a go either just drawing attention to the currency issue, so no offence mate ). Which in the scheme of things is about average for these days. But by the same token, the actual average price for a VZ SV6 is about $19k +.

well i've just found out the interior is not leather seats, he was menaing leather steering wheel and other minor trim bits.... not that this was a major factor factor in my decision, but it seems less of a bargain now....

OK, so if i could get this one or an automatic with 40,000 les km's on it (another one i am looking at) what would YOU people recommend?

I'm not against autos as such, I think I have just owned crappy autos in the past....never anything this flash with the steering wheel paddles etc

well id go auto with 40,000 less kays but thats just me, and yeah only leather trimmed as u can see in the pics its clearly not leather, price seems good, and if me id go for auto with 40k less, and dont get too hyped about the paddles, they r difficult to use around corners and such and r delayed, i just shift with the stick these days dont even use em really, maybe sometimes in a straight line but thats it, go for it, u'll enjoy it, i know i do

I'm not sure although the thought did cross my mind...with the times and all. And it's at a warehouse with 100 or so other cars, not a showroom or yard.

The only details the guy will give is that it's guaranteed not ex lease/rental/thrashed to shit but it's getting a full inspection today before I sign on the bottom line anyway.

your not looking hard enough when i was lookin for a new car a good 7months ago was throwing up between a sv6 vz or vy sv8(which i choose thank god lol) majority where between 11-13k they had a few dints here and there nothing to much and all around 60-80 km auctions are also a good place to get them

    Hey guys,

The SV6 will be mine early next week so I haven't got my hands on it yet - but are these wheels a factory option? Doesn't look like it.....not that I'm complaining! see attached.
