New Member , New Sv6 noises?

Hi guys i just picked up a 05 sv6 with 80k on the clock and have noticed a few noises that i'm worried about. The fist one is coming from the intake manifold/injector area and kind of sounds like noisy injectors, it actually sounds like a diesel at idle.

The second sound happens if i'm sitting still in park and i give the throttle a quick short blurt, this makes a loud tinny sound like the throttle body opening with a metal on metal sound. Any help would be great. Cheers

I have heard people talk of loose heat shields on the exhaust manifolds making a noise.

Haven't had the problem on mine, but it might be worth checking.

Yeah the heat shields were the first thing i checked, no luck.

Yeah i had a 10 sec Torana 355 stroker running nos a few years ago.

the second noise your talking about, is that heard after you release the throttle after a quick rev, if so thats the variable intake opening and closing, nothing to worry about

Yep that's the one!! So it is not the throttle body but the variable intake? Where is that located?

Does anyone else know if the injectors are meant to make a slight ticking noise??

the variable intake, is just basicly flaps inside the intake manifold, that increase/decrease the lenght of the manifold. the noise your hearing is the flaps reseating into there normal postion

All i need to do now is find out about the ticking noise

mate you will find that the ticking noise is a little solenoid that is located under the passenger side engine cover.. it is a purge solenoid for the charcoal canister
