Hey guys, I'm looking for some advise on the SS Growler kit..
Has anyone fitted these to their 175/190? If so what improvements have you found?
ie.. Induction noise, power increase?
I've already done the 2-hole mod, and found minimal difference..
The main reason I'm considering the Growler is because I can get one of a mate, for only a couple hundred $$. And I also quite like the look of the kit..
So basically would it be worth the extra $$$ to upgrade to a Growler?
The car in question in a SV6 with full exhaust.
Cheers
hey mate have gone from two hole mod on my 190 to this and man the power upgrade is huge like from the feel of the front seat

this would be a more worth while installation as have heard nothing but bad things and the ss reductions on the alloytechs and the pods give it just a mean sound once it hits peak range
Very interested in this cold air intake too from mace engineering tooo had a look on their website but culdnt find it. But it is on ebay must be pretty new? Woould like to see a dyno graph on this see how da gains are.
It's a new product for us. We'll definitely be having more info about them on our site including fitting instructions over the coming weeks![]()

yeah sucks i saw the mace one once i had already gotten mine from the other guys mace's definately looks more professional but from what i can tell i love it and everyone who has heard my car loves it
would you rate it better than the 2 hole mod? where is it sucking its cold air from since its enclosed behind the head light
two hole mod is crap in comparison but two hole mod is the bang for buck mod as i did mine for free (sisters bf a plumber lol) and pod filter was just awsome

MACE can we see some more pics of your kit?
Maybe some with the perspex lid?
For more info about our cold air intake to suit (for the people who haven't scene it yet) they're shown in the link below.

We don't have any perspexs lid to suit at the moment as the product is still quite new.

Does the intake go from the shroud straight to the airbox or through the existing piping? If through the piping then I struggle to see how it could make any difference. unless my air filter is the bottleneck (standard hardware with K&N panel filter) and I cant imagine that it could get overly hot at the airbox then where does the extra airflow come from? Now an OTR mafless intake (assuming it could be tuned to suit) would be good. Any in the pipeline?

Any more info on the MACE CAI?
not sure if this help's you's lol i got the MACE pod enclosure on my vs , it did make a bit of differnce, gave it some more poke
I have the CAI with pod filter and definitely you can feel the difference in terms of induction growl (from a v6)...and definitely improvement in fuel efficiency...

i can answer a few of those questions
I have a growler big mouth fitted to my vz calais 190 before i had my exhaust done, it gave a vast improvement on the stock & gave the engine a beefier sound ("growl") and improved my 0-100 times not by much, but hey every little bit counts
It Sucks from behind the headlight, if you have a look at your stock intake it sucks (on the vz) from under the bonnet through the holes in the radiator shield, the bottom of the inlet side of this kit is open wide enough so it also draws minimal air that makes its way upwards from the grill.
It also uses the stock piping but you can always upgrade that yourself as an extra precaution
ill add some photos to the post later
hey mate
i got the ss induction (growler kit) on my 190 vz M6 and there is a bit of a difference with power but not alot. Only when u go past say 3000-3500rpm that it makes a nice induction sound. but i think the 2 hole mod is just as good...
Would love some pics.
I still can't decide between this and the MACE one.
I really really like the look of these kits, so will prob end up getting one of these..
Problem is that with the 2 hole mod, hotter air is getting into the engine as opposed to the stock.

^^^Thats not unless u use the MCAI Shroud, which sits between the front of the Airbox & behind the headlight.
Only costs $17 from Holden
The Blue One
Well someone should buy some thermometer and measure the temperatures with and without the shroud. Maybe someone with a growler should try and measure the temperature of the air going in.

so whats the difference between the pod and the growler kit?
iv herd nothing but good things about this 2 hole mod, going to give it a go on the weekend.
do you need to modify the MCAI Shroud when useing it on the 2 hole mod? keeping in mind its for a vz sv6 alloy(190)
