Default Wheres the BCM located? & the Horn.... :D

    Hi.

Just curious where the BCM is located??

Secondly the BCM i can get is from an 06 VZ exec wagon that has the side airbag option keeping in mind that my VZ is an 05 wagon without the side airbag option... would this cause any conflicts?

Also wheres the horn located? (without testing it with my head stuck in the engine bay) ive also got a 450hz horn so i might as well install it.

any help & even pics would be great!

    cheers guys.

    Hi Scyth

I can help with Questions 1 and 3.

The BCM is located under the dash, above the accelerator pedal. It is retained by two plastic quick release clips on top and one scrivet. Access is gained by removing the lower dash panel on the driver's side. It's a mongrel to reach up and release and you will probably find it is easier to remove the scrivet by cutting it off with a sharp chisel and replacing it with a new one when putting the BCM back in (or leave it off altogether0.

The horn is mounted behind the bumper facia on the right hand (driver's side). You need to get down to ground level and look up behind the bumper to see it. One 12 or 13mm socket and two wires to unplug. To mount a second horn, you need a left hand mounting bracket as well as the horn. The wiring is already in place on the passenger's side.

Can't help with the question about the air bags though.

Also, if you change the BCM for any reason, I think you need to have your keys either re-programmed or replaced to mate with the new BCM.

Yep, it is, a very common VZ issue apparently. New BCM plus keys = around $500, or Doctor Bob can fix for about half that.

If you get another used BCM, try to get the keys with it. Be prepared for the new BCM to be faulty too, if it is second hand.

personally, considering your in victoria, id be getting in contact with dr bob first to see if he can fiddle with it, i know he can fix the lights on issue, id be checking him first as that will be the least amount of trouble,

then try your different bcm, if you havnt allready bought one, i cant see to many issues as long as its the same level, ie execs use level 1,

on that subject to, id be getting holden to fit it, or fit it in the dealerships car park then get them to re-flash the computers, as the vats link wont be the same so the car probably wont start

kool, thanks Calaber. The BCM im gettting is from an ex vic police dog squad VZ wagon & from memory its got both keys. The cars a write off anyway (got slammed by another squad car up the arse) so the BCM was intact & working well apparently. So ill see how i go!

hey funny you mention this andy....

are vic police & ambulance VZ wagons use level 1 bcm?? i know the vic pol cars are 9c1's but im not sure about the ambulance ones. ive never driven one yet.... so would the VZ paramedic response wagons be police spec as well? If so would that make the BCM a difference level??

you'll prob find the car will throw an airbag fault becuase you don't have the side airbags connected.

the BCM has no bearing on the SRS codes
if you change the BCM the dealer will need to link it to the car so it will run
you will need the BCM pin & the security code from the PIM to get them linked
the sticky indicator issue can be fixed

Do i need a higher level BCM to do this or do the acclaims come with BCM that is compatable?
