Default Just got my VCM tune done at CHE

Well i just got my tune done today and was very happy with the work that Dale did. I was a little unhappy that my SV6 only managed 167rwhp standard but with a end result of 192rwhp i was very happy with the gains. 25hp gain!!

On the road the biggest difference is the off the line torque that is now available, only a fraction of throttle and it pulls hard off the line. The 0-100 time seems very similar but the changes are alot more aggressive like a shift kit has been put in (5 speed auto). Up high it does rev a little bit quicker but nothing major, the midrange though is very good now. Over all it makes for a good cruiser with a little more poke off the line. Will report back after i do a fuel consumption comparison.

Yeah im happy with the gains but i think i need to get a compression test done as 167rwhp standard is quite low as it should be about 190.... Though Dale did say the alloytec's are hit and miss and he has seen plenty of sv6's only pull 150rwhp stock.

$880 includes before and after dyno printouts. Well worth the money if you want down low driveablity and better fuel consumption. Just don't expect it to turn into a v8 lol.

that sounds about right, remember the 190 is at the flywheel, not the wheels as it was tested

yeah i know but RWHP is usually the equivalent to FWKW. This means if the engine puts out 190kw at the flywheel it should have 190rwhp.

Well i got there at 8.30am and was out the door by 10.30am. It could take a little longer depending on how busy they are i guess.

After driving the car a little more in Active select mode i am even more impressed!!, it is revving out quicker right though the range and when i launch it off from a standing start it squats down spins both wheels for a moment off she goes. Sooo much more torque down low :P Now i just have to stop having fun and see how fuel consumption is affected as the car was sitting at about 13.5:1 stock though Dale richened it up to 13:1 right across the rev range under full acceleration. Im guessing he leaned it out under light throttle loads???

The tune you got, did that include disabling torque management?

usually yes they do, this is where probably half the gain comes from

i'd say torque management is mostly gone if he's noticing lots more low end torque. don't stress about your power figure mate. i saw an sv6 with full exhaust pacies hi flow cats and catback with a growler intake only make 196rwhp once dale had finished tuning it. then there is lucky ones like me that make 197rwhp on dales dyno but i have a ve and they just seem to be alot more consistant with the power. though the down side of a ve is i can't get it tuned cause vcm wont update the bloody software.......

Yep torque management is gooone. The engine can rev to redline in neutral and the car is able to do

Anyway i just got back from a 100km round trip on the M4 and averaged 8.9l/100km including stop start traffic from my house to the M4 and some traffic in emuplains. Im guessing if i reset the trip meter on the highway it would have got down to very low 8's or even high 7's

Yeah Dale did say the Alloytecs were very Hit and Miss and that plenty have gotten even lower power then mine. The main thing is the gains were exactly as claimed!!

Stock as a rock. Even a Standard air filter. Not planning on an exhaust as im kind of over loud exhausts as ive had them all my life. Im still interested if Dale played around with the cruising settings like the half throttle and 1/4 throttle fuel mixtures/ timing ect. I will have to give him a ring on Monday and find out.

Ok here is the before and after. As you can see i gained over 40hp in parts of the midrange. Im assuming 13:1 is a good Air/Fuel ratio?

thats actually a great result mate. get some pacemaker extractors and put a k&n in the airbox and it will make 200rwhp and wont be any louder.

it would be about the same overall gain just a lower start and finish figure.

Well my car was actually putting out the same power as a healthy 175 motor so the results i got would be the same as a 175kw motor putting out its claimed power. If my car was putting out 190rwhp stock like it should i would have ended up at closer to 210rwhp. Stupid underpowered lemon lol.

Yeah i may get some pacemakers in the near future and will definitely get a k&n filter tomorrow. My cousin just took the car for a spin while i was sitting in the passo and it had me firmly planted in the seat from 60km to 140 on a private road. Im more happy with it the more i drive it!!

Don't tempt me lol. This car was meant to stay standard to stop me from losing my license again. Im at that age (28) where im starting to grow up and realize that cars are not all about speeding around that comfort and build quality are starting to grow as my priority's. I think the K&N and perhaps some extractors if Castle hill exhaust tell me its worth the money for the gain will be as far as i will go. I want to keep the diff ratio standard for fuel economy.
