Ok i basically just bought my 05 sv6 and got it VCM tuned before i really drove the car as i didn't have a license at the time. Now that i am driving everyday i have noticed quite a serious issue with the throttle/ or gearbox at about 3/8 throttle. The revs don't stay constant when accelerating and fluctuate like the throttle is "pulsing". I can only put it down to the Drive by Wire system??
Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas?. The car is fine under harder acceleration, it only happen at this certain throttle point.
bump, any ideas at all?
Hmmmm loooks like the same for my car. U do notice it when ur usiing active select in 2 /3/4 gear i always thought it was the electonic throttle. Could be wrong. But yes would like to hear from others on this.

Is your car VCM tuned?
have similar problem with my throttle, about 1/4 throttle it gets a bit jerky if held in that constant spot.
^^^ Has ur VZ had a VCM tune?

Sounds like a gearbox on the way out to me. Seems to becoming more and more common on the VZ's, because of the "sealed for life" BS.
This is the fluid that came out of my "sealed for life" gearbox - no prizes for guessing which one is the old fluid. Guy across the road from me just spent $4,500 getting his 5spd auto rebuild because 5th gear just stopped working at 100,000kms, thanks to trans fluid way past it's due-by date.

My car is approaching 100,000k's and I service it regularly but I'd like the fluid to be checked/replaced by Holden. I'm no mechanic and I don't even want to attempt to do it myself.
no mate holden have the auto listed as sealed for life. IE they never touch it.
Holden specify the 5 speed to be serviced at 150K.
I had my 4 speed done at 100K.
Had a talk to the specialist that serviced my tranny
about extended service intervals.
He claims they should be serviced every 12 months
or 20K. Along with some stories about failures.
But he would say that wouldn't he?
Cheap insurance though for overservicing.
I have heard similar from various shops. Personally, I'm going to start doing mine every 12 months. At most I'd leave it for 24 months, or about 50,000kms. The fluid deteriorates with age, and heat, and there is no way around that really. 150,000? That's just asking for trouble.
My theory is they are "sealed for life", because by the time you change the fluid the tranny is dead
Any transmission specialist should be able to change the fluid. It's not rocket science and if you can change your oil you can change your trans fluid, but either way I would get it done before you have some very expensive repairs on your hands.

Thanks guys. Next time I take it to Holden I'll get them to change the fluid. They will do it if I request them to right? My car is still under Warranty.

Well i took my car to Holden and they told me the Gearbox was "faulty" and would cost 6k for a new gearbox. I had the trans-fluid changed at 80k but i think it was too late. I would advise anyone with the 5 speed auto to get it serviced every 40k to be safe.
mine is doing this as well no tune done i just did the trans service cost me 275 trade with the oil and filter kit its NOT SEALED FOR LIFE same as doing the old vt box except u have to fill by spill like the diff the bolt is on pside at rear of box down lowish
are you talking about the vz 5sp or the same 4spd they've used since the vr?
Chev badges are an instant fail
the new vz 5 spd is the same sorta setup as the old 4 speed box u can crack the pan off and change seal and filter and change fluid threw bolt in rear of box on pside till it starts to pour out then its full
Just so there are no misunderstandings, none of the boxes are physically sealed for life, they can all still be drained and refilled easily. The 5spd procedure is very similar to the 4spd.
They are only described as "sealed for life" because in all the Holden service documents, that's how they are described and oil changes are discouraged except where absolutely necessary, and that fluid changes are not part of the regular maintenance schedule.

Its not the transmision slipping as the speed of the vehicle physically raises and lowers by 3-5km/h when it does it.
Its just a glitch with it.
Now I have a manual SV6 and I can get my manual to do exactly the same thing when going up hill in 4th gear.
well i got a new accelerator peddle(drive by wire) seem to improve this "electronic glitch" a bit, not as jerky now.
wonder if you coud fit the 4spd dipstick etc to the 5 spd? to monitor the fliud level and condition
