Default Higher ratio rollers for 304

    Hey guys,
Im not a happy camper. Not long ago i asked about ratios for the 304 v8 and whether you had higher available and if not why. Seems Yella Terra didnt make them cause there was little benefit. Now i find a seller on Ebay selling these:-

NEW YELLA TERRA/STREET TERRA BOLT ON HI RATIO HOLDEN SHAFT ROLLER ROCKER SET

The Yella Terra Street Race Rockers are designed as a bolt on for the Holden 5.0 litre.

STREET TERRA rockers feature a strong vacuum die formed arm designed for high performance street and budget race applications and are an ultra reliable standard repalcement for pressed metal factory rockers .

All Yella Terra products are 100% AUSTRALIAN MADE!

This listing is for a 1.72ratio (intake & exhaust) Adjustable Street Terra twin shaft rocker arm system for Holden VN cylinder heads. (VN- VT) These are popular because they give you 5% extra valve lift giving you more performance* ( Standard Holden ratio is 1.65 )

    Part Number YT 2043 ...

These rockers are for 5/16" shaft mount ( no machining required ) and fit under factory covers on VN onwards ( ALL EFI engines)

Use any kind of Hydraulic cam - MUST ALWAYS CHECK CLEARANCES WITH HI RATIO ROCKERS

This system comes complete with twin shaft rocker arms and mounting bolts

If i knew they were on the drawing board as they must of been i would of waited to get what id really wanted than to buy what was available.

    Hello Commydoor,

We have had the arms for years but never sold any for power upgrades.

I was asked by a couple of engine builders if i could assemble some for them to purchase, to be used with new cams that required a little more valve lift.
So insted of making a set or two i made 20 or so

i have not heard back of any power increases, maybe a hp or 2

    Cheers

thanks for the responses guys....Ryno they were $840 on Ebay...i wouldnt of bought them from there anyway but straight with Yella Terra if id of known....mine is a standard hydraulic cam MickyD so maybe thats why you's never mentioned them....if its only going to be a cupla Hp then i can live with that...i'll compensate with the S/hand 8psi Terracharger i bought lol....while im here can i ask you about fitting...theres no instructions on fitting come with it...is there a special oil thats needed to lubricate it and where does it go and do you have single gaskets available for between the charger and inlet manifold?
    Thanks guys.

    Hi MickyD,
With the ST2032's i got from you i took my time fitting them as you would. With those unadjustables there is just 1 spacer so its either there or not. I did each one in turn and it ends up that all spacers are not fitted. All tensioned down correctly (warren/brown wrench so i know its true).
Now theres a rattle on cold start up im sure is a lifter or rod bleeding back from lack of tension and only for a few seconds. I seem to recall somewhere about slightly longer pushrods is this true and do you recommend using them with the standard lifters? Since ive got the inlet off to fit the blower i may as well sort this out now.
    Thanks, Commydoor.

Im almost finished building a 355 stroker and was wondering if it was worth getting higher ratio rokers? If they make little/no difference on a standard 304 im not sure if they'd make a difference in the stroker?

    Cheers

its free valve lift. even the 1.65's give you a boost over factory 1.6's dunno how the 1.72's would go with being center of your valve tip though. you would prolly have to seriously think about your geometry. i reckon itd be more of a pain in the bum than its worth considering the street terras bolt straight on and give you x .05 more lift.
