Question performance gains from roller rockers?

hey everyone, i drive a VY S II and was just curious as to the performance gains that i can recieve by installing roller rockers? im not after exact figures, just from your personal experiences, have you noticed a difference in acceleration etc.
also, how do roller rockers affect fuel consumption?
thank you, any info about your experiences with roller rocker upgrades would be great

Are you talking about high ratio rockers or standard ratio?

Standard ratio is just going to be a reliability mod and wont make any different to the performance of the car.

High ratio rockers open the valves further, or some such. Basically half the job a cam will do but cheaper and easier.

I purchased a set of 1.9 ratio rockers for my ecotec. I had a customer of my shop I was friendly with who had a workshop with a dyno.
I asked him to fit the rockers. He said "why did you waste money on them, you should have brought a cam"
I told him there a lot easier to fit than a cam with similar results.
So just to prove a point he chucked it on his dyno before and after.
    Before 129kw
    After 133kw
He said "how much did you just pay for 4kw", replied "I read I would gain 10-15"
In saying that the motor definitely runs smoother, especially above 4000 rpm
I already had every bolt on I could do myself, so maybe gain would have been bigger on a stock motor
    Just my expeience

You can get away without a tune but you may as well go get your money back for 4kw, did they log your AFR when they did the dyno runs? So with my thinking BLM's wouldn't have had time to adjust at all so with WOT using the same fueling as before the rockers it would be running lean with all the extra air going through.

The Higher ratio rockers will give you about a 5% power gain over standard, if you already have mods like intake and exhaust the % will drop as you have already gained in the area's that the rockers help, most feel more acceleration from 2000rpm and up, better throttle responce and lower fuel consumption in normal driving .

When i had my rockers put in i already had a full exhuast (high flow cat, pacemaker headers ect ect) a mace air intake and i still noticed a good difference, then delco did a tune for me and went even better again, they all worked well together. Gains werent massive but noticable enough, every bit counts i suspose

The kind of tune your talking abount is a custom kalmaker tune. Around $1200
There comes a point where you think i've got to stop throwing money at this thing.
Still glad I installed em, as as well as 4kw i got a smoother running and freeer revving motor which I plan to keep for a while and enjoy.

yeh i dont doubt that and it'd be spot on to, would have been interesting to to atleast try a custom or shelf tune, even would be interested if you drove it for a week then went and got a dyno again.

    Typical V6 fan boy.

I'm sorry mate, how d'you manage to drag off a V8 with more torque and pull than your V6. I've spent money on my Ecotec and let me tell you, I might as well do an engine transplant from my lawn mower, would probably go faster.
