Hmmm, 183 sounds a bit on the low side! Has it been tuned?? If so, who tuned it??

Just out of curiosity, you said its been decompressed. What compression is it running now??

Just engine management are supposed to be really good. As far as i know, the engine doesnt need to be decompressed for this kit, 100 psi is fairly low, normal 5.0 should see about 140-150 psi. Would be nice to know what the actual compression ratio is though. I would say that is where your power has gone.....compression is too low. 5 litres have fairly low compression from the factory and i would have thought the stock compression would have been fine!

I agree, somethings going wrong somewhere. A basically stock V6 can get 200Kw's blown!

    Hey vs blown,

We have just released our water to air intercooler to suit the V8 Terra charger kit. It sits 25mm high and should give it about 30 deg lower intake temp.
If you were to run one of these and play with pulley size you should get a bit more out of her. We have also just made a new bottom pulley size of 175mm over the other 160mm. changing the bottom pulley to 175mm will give you a couple more pulley sizes to try.

Do you know what size s/c pulley you are running at the moment?

    Cheers

100psi is way low, stock compression woulda been fine for a terra charger, unless you wanted to put 20psi down it's throat you shoulda left it alone

yeh 5ltr compression is 10:1 i think from memory, and yeh they can handle a bit and pull good power with a stock bottom end or forged with same ratio and either stock or mild head work, and a s/c, pull some very nice power with that, should've got easy 200rwkw, but yeh seen has u swapped it a while ago, way to late now.

You guys need to make sure you're not getting "rear wheel" power figures confused with "flywheel" power figures.
185 RWKW is about right for the basic Terracharger kit. Some are making 220-250 RWKW with cam, cooler, throttle body etc, but a standard VN 5.0ltr usually makes about 120-130 RWKW. Same as a factory super six, GM rated the L67 engine at 184 Flywheel KW and you'll always loose at least 60 KW thru the Commodore drive train.

The torque is what makes the main difference on a blown motor.
I've seen a 185 RWKW Terracharged Statesman blow the doors off 245 RWKW LS1 powered VY because it had good torque straight off idle.

    Cheers.

5ltr holden V8's only have 8.2-8.5 to 1 compression ratio and yes they accept blowing quite well because of this but 8.5 is still high on blown motor and doesn't allow a lot of blower pressure.
The Stock L67 super6 has a compression ratio of 7.8 to 1 and can only take 10psi with out intercooling.
