Default supercharging L36......

hey ppl, got afew questions for anyone that can answer them.
with the whipple and i think terra charger to suit the l36 after buying the kit is it a straight up bolt on with no other mods needed? or what else needs to be done? does anything need to be strengthened??
how much do they both cost? how much do they cost to install?
do you need to run twin cats like factory charged 6's?
how much power can you get out of the L36 with either of them on?
are they loud? got a good sound to them?
how much boost do they run straight from the kit, whats a safe amount to run on the l36?

copied from the yt site
"The kit is supplied with the Terra Charger axial entry supercharger, alloy intake manifold, alloy S/C inlet pipe, low comp head gaskets, by-pass valve, intergrated S/C pulley and belt, intake tube and belows, billet fuel rails, S/C fuel injectors and all necessary mounting brakets and hoses"

is that it? whack it all on and drive away? or is there more to it?

whipple
"YT 4062-1 kit comes with the YT 4061-002 L67 Intake manifold and straight fuel injector rails to upgrade L36 engine to supercharged.
Requires built engine to maximise Whipple W140AX supercharger's increased air flow capabilitys"

built engine? im guessing more work needs done to run the whipple?

if you run the engine dead stock you won't get the most out of the super charger. that is the main thing. nothing stops you from putting it on and putting a coservative tune and amount of boost in it. But especially with the whipple it'll want be running anywhere near it capability. so it comes down to your future plans and budget. If you only want a small increase don't spend the money on the whipple if you plan on going all out in the future the whipple would be the choice

My advice would be to think about how much power you would like now and in the future.
If 160 RWKW is plenty for you, then the M90 kit non intercooled is probably the best option.
If you think you need more now or would want to increase that later to 200RWKW then the Whipple kit which includes the intercooler works out better value at $6200 than the M90 kit $4500 and an intercooler to suit $2900. It also has the potential to make well over the 300RWKW if you want to go "all out"
Both kits need a custom tune and for more than 220 RWKW a set of forged pistons and "H" beam rods are a good idea.
The Whipple kit is made as an upgrade for L67 engines so you would need to source L67 heads, manifold, and idler pulleys additional to the kit.
Other items that may be required (depending on power levels); LS1 or LS2 MAF, LS1 or aftermarket throttle body, twin hi flow cats & twin 2 1/2" system or twin 3" system, underdrive 8 rib balancer & pulley kit. camshaft etc etc etc.
Cheers.
Mark.

LPG works great with superchargers and often means you can run standard compression. The only concern is backfires, vapour LPG injection would be the go.

Cheers.

I ran a VB Commy fitted with a supercharged RB30 on LPG for a few years.
It had 9.0:1 comp and ran 10psi boost non intercooled.

We supply Cometic head gaskets but the standard plastic manifold gaskets are fine, unless you want to use the metal ones we keep so theres no chance of them cracking.
