You need to identify what is causing the tick.
If its a solid cam then you just go thru and cheack all the clearances. (specified by the cam grinder)
If it's hydraulic then it really shouldn't be noisy unless theres a problem.
Listen to it carefully and see if you can tell if its only one, or a couple, or the whole lot.
Try to identify which bank it's coming from.
Does it come and go relative to load and conditions.
Rockers are often the first thing suspected when people hear a tapping noise but there are lots of other causes as well.
Worn valve guides.
Worn lifters and cam lobes.
Exhaust leaks.
Bent, broken or worn pushrods.
If it is the rockers, then it will most likely be worn pins, pushrod cups or bearings, but they will usually outlast a couple of engines before getting to that stage.
