Hi, i just put in a set of 1.8 roller rockers into the ute. It idles much better, resists stalling a bit more, and tends to scream a bit harder in the higher revs - all very good.
I did notice however that my ute sounds like it's turbocharged due to this massive whistle coming from the intake. Is it just because it's sucking more air in?
whistling normally indicated a leak in the intake somewhere. did you remove/disturb anything related to the intake when you fitted the rockers?

i took the throttle body off to get into the passenger side rockers. The sound's not coming from there though, sounds like it's coming from the runners. I did take the ecotec cover off aswell, and i've been told it does make for a touch more cabin noise
mmmmmmmmmmm
Haven't struck that one before.
Maybe try putting the cover back on and go for a fang.
there is a tiny hose that runs from throttle body and into the manifold through a gap in the runners this joins another hose in there. check that hose is joined up to the throttle body. one of the guys here in adelaide had a gas blow back and it blew that hose off, its a tough one to locate.
and it whistles when you throw your boot in too

Yeah i had a look at the hoses, threw the cover back on and took it for a spin. Still makes the noise - definately coming from the runners. It's not bothering me - hell i actually like the noise, i thought it must have meant that something was about to explode.
You wouldnt like it once you do an oil test and find silica/dirt ingest which over time may damage the engine. Try and seal it...
Ok lads i checked it again and found the problem - the airbox hose wasn't completely sealed around the throttle body. Someone feels like a goose...
On a positive note, the ute seems to have gained/reclaimed some power.
Thats good to hear it was something small. easy mistake.
Cheers
