    Default Roller Rockers 304 VR

    Hi Tappethead.
Is the cam setup in a standard 304 Vr Ss hydraulic? Does that mean i can just direct replace non-adjustable Street Terror's without hassle and they clear the standard covers? And do they only come in the factory 1.65 ratio or are there higher ratio available now? I have checked the YT website and the St2032 bolt-on non-adjustable for the 5.0 say non(hydraulic) 1.65:1. Im a tad confused that if they are non hydraulic then shouldnt they have adjustment? Lastly they look like they are a cast rocker. Would this be a problem later on where im considering fitting up a smallish supercharger with low boost? The engine at the moment is low klm unopened but with a larger throttle body and injectors fitted. At this stage im not looking at replacing the camshaft. Any advice is very welcome. Thanks.

    Hey Commydoor,

The factory 5.0L does run a hydaulic lifter, so a non adjustable rocker can be used with out an issue, if you put a performance cam in later you just need to keep it hydraulic and not too big and they would still be fine.

A super charger set up on your engine would not really have any effect on your rockers if you are not changing internals.

    Cheers

    thanks MickyD,

I hope YT has those in stock for as soon as Mr Rudd comes through with the money a set there has my name on them.

I hate being a pain but while your here, since im not after full on H/P just a kick in the pants so to speak do you have a S/C kit available for the VR 304 thats small as in low boost and fairly cost effective? Allowing later a smallish intercooler may find its way on it (its a budget build and takes time as you know).

    Thanks Jim.

    MickyD,
just wondering why it is that the 304's dont get any extra ratio from the standard 1.65:1
say to a 1.7:1 or a 1.75:1....do they just not benefit from it or is the valve gear prone to failures??
    Thanks Jim.

We made a high ratio rocker for the holden v8 Dash-9 heads a few years ago but not many people found a huge power gain in them and they didnt really move much so we discontinued them,

But we have put some 1.72 ratio rockers together in the Street Terra bolt on range for guys that want a little more and are not changing camshaft with huge lobe lift.
We have adjustable and non-adjustable available
( aftermarket camshaft could be used but clearances would need to be checked).

    Cheers
