hey guys,
im looking at getting an alpine cda-9886 for my vy calais by it seems that the alpine only has one wire for the power aerial, where as the commodore has two wires, one for up and one for down... am i missing something here? how are you guys able to make sure aerial's still work with aftermarket stereos?

cheers :D

The wire from your head unit is +12V, when it activates, usually the antenna goes up and satys up... when the power is lost(wire deactivates) the areal drops. IMguessing the Vy ones work in that id you supply power, or earth, to the up wire, it goes up, same with the down wire... Earth out the Antenna Up(on antenna) wire while its down and see what happens... if nothing, supplly 12v to it... have a play.

you may ahev to make a custom stwich/relay for it...

aZk.

Accesories - Yellow
Constant - Orange/White
Illumination - Brown/White
Earth - Black/White
12V OUTPUT - Yellow/Red
Radio Mute - Yellow/Black (VT onwards)
Antenna up - White (VR onwards)
Antenna down - Blue (VR onwards)
Illumination OUTPUT - Grey (VT onwards)

according to that aZk is right. it shouldn't be that hard to wire it up with a relay.
buy a 12v relay like this one from jaycar
productLarge_3982.jpg

and connect it like the pic attached below if the antennas work off 12v. if not replace 12v with GND.

i just got a reply from alverts car stereo with the same question, they replied:
Just connect the yellow/red wire to the blue wire and the antenna will work the same way.

is this correct?

Anyone tried this?
I don't know much about this stuff so can some clear something up for me.
Can i run a wire off the 12v wire that goes to the head deck to the relay and same for the ground wire?

So which wire would be to keep the memory on the aftermarket ? The constant wire?

Hey guys, I know its an old post but has anyone made antenna work when you select radio as a source? My HU IDA-x303 actually has antenna cable which should make it work, I've tried connecting to the original blue cable but its not working. Any idea?
Cheers.
