Hey, I have a S/C VS Calais and bought a RedBack catback exhaust for it, stupidly before looking under the car.

Went to the trouble of putting it on stands and then saw underneath it has a twin exhaust and the single system I bought is useless (due to having 2 cats)

If I was to get a non-supercharged exhaust manifold and cat, with the piping to the cat, would I be able to fit my exhaust? Or is the S/C motor different somehow and it wouldn't fit up?

Thanks

It's different because the engine is boosted. The regular Y pipe will fit, but I dare say that if you got the regular Y-pipe it would be way more restrictive and not worth it just so you can have a catback.

Not an Abba Fan will probably chime in on this one.

Haha, yeah I will.

The VS S/C never came from factory with a twin, they had a single. It's custom, so nothing you buy will bolt up. Unless who ever made it was a smart bastard and made the cats the same as the V8 so the V8 system is a direct fit, but I think I might be living in a dream world for that to happen, because I think I'm the only one that does that.

The way to tell would be looking at the cats, they should be offset to each other, IE, one slightly in front of the other, and have two bolt flanges on the rear for the system to bolt up.

Funny that I have a genuine VS Calais 97 model
and had factory twin cat system its def not aftermarket.
Custom vs v8 system I bought bolted straight up.
They are twin cats and twin muffers into a single pipe from factory.

Thanks for your inputs guys.

Yes I'm positive it is factory standard.

I've requested a refund on my single 2.5" catback anyway... too much hassle and beyond my skill level.

Will just get an exhaust shop to chop out the 2 centre mufflers. Do you think that would sound good or way too much? (I don't mind it rough and loud)

Get a custom cat back twin 2.5" into 3" if your worried about drone
get a rear resonator. Mine drones a lil (no resonator) but it sounds really good for a 6.
I think chopping mufflers out will sound crap and you got old pipe work etc.

I'm just on a bit of a budget, especially since paying for 2x postage on an exhaust I'm not keeping :/

I really want to keep the twin exhaust now I know about it, though getting a custom system made up is way out of my price range.

It does have a rear resonator too - maybe it won't sound so bad?

I am sure that the VS S/C was a single, but stand corrected if it was a twin.

If that's the case then the twin V8 system will bolt straight up. I do that system for $820 shipped with the front mufflers and rear resonator.

I'm getting them chopped tomorrow lol... easiest way for now.

I will keep that in mind for when I do it properly. Could I get some more info please? :)

The Manta system is a twin 2 1/2" mandrel bent with front mufflers and rear resonator with twin outlet and tips.
