Sure, gimme a couple of weeks and I'll be in the ballpark. You need to know what you need before you go shopping (thar be pirates), otherwise yes you could pay twice as much :yarr:

  • Custom Exhaust (Pacemaker / Vizard)
  • Custom Manifold, TB and OTR (Rick Crawford / Orrsom)
  • VVT Camshaft and Phaser (27° authority over ICL)
  • Custom Pistons (14:1)
  • Head and Valve work (hollow stems, 3-way, etc.,)

The aim is greater thermodynamic efficiency using ethanol on an Atkinson cycle, the performance increase from greater VE is a bonus really.
Full exhaust is going to be close to a third of your budget so it leaves $5k.

Buy a new manifold and getting Rick to modify it would be in the region of $700-800 at a guess, throttle I don't know we'll say $200. Leaves $4100.

OTR CAI $400 odd, leave $3700.

Pistons and rings depends what you are using but at least $600 for something good. Leaves $3100.

Cam, pushrods, springs, etc I would guess at least $800 which leaves $2300.

I find it hard to believe that for $2300 you can get headwork done, the short assembled, sundries (oil, gaskets, coolant, etc) and either pay someone to tune it or purchase the software yourself for $2300. That is factoring in you fitting the manifold, CAI and exhaust yourself.

I've been fairly conservative on the price of most components as well.

Standard fuel pump and injectors going to cope?

You could also add diff gears, clutch or stall, injectors fuel pump and surge then tune, there's another 5grand.

Cheaper to go forced induction

Not bang for buck nor on-cost nor up-front... Easier conceptually, yes!

Nope $2000 and it's ace.

Car has ZL1 pump and 400kw e85 injectors standard.

About half price of similar performance forced induction.

You forgot to price everything else out................
Give us all the full break down so people can stop wasting money if it's so simple.

Better... If it doesn't blow up or cost blow out then I'll sell the kit.

Surely it would be cheaper to just buy a LSA and park the stock Motor in the garage than pull it apart and make the car a pig to live with day to day??!!

Well yeah, twice the money, try to convert everything using e38 compatibility, get less performance, get worse economy and three or four times the emissions. I did think about it, but silly really.

I don't understand why you think the car will be a pig to live with? It will idle exactly like stock, deliver more convertor friendly torque curve and overall more controlled than stock!

Goodo! You will need a Holden VE (unsure it will fit VF at the moment).
Can't I put a L77 into something else, I don't think I'm ready to be a VE owner.
