Hi,

First post and a pretty stupid question to start with, but how do people get under their cars to get to the sump plug to change oil etc.

I had visions of me doing it first thing this morning, but hey I can barely get my head under let alone actually getting under it to the sump plug?

Cheers,
John

I have a large trolley jack which is a little too high to get under the front of the car and my oil catch tray is also a bit high so what I have taken to doing is drive the front wheels up onto some pieces of 4x2 hardwood (2 side by side per wheel) then the jack and oil tray go under easily and there is room to get under and undo the sump plug (use a ring spanner not a socket).

Please don't service your own car if you no idea how to even get under it.....

I have no problem getting under the VE.

Tub to catch the oil underneath, lay out with spanner in hand, reach onto sump plug and turn. Twist last turn on plug to catch it or it will drop into the hot oil.
Of course change filter as well. Plug back in then new oil in.

I weigh just on 80kgs........Guess I'm normal???????????
