I have a light bar. I need it to work automatically when my high beams go on. I do not want a switch in my car, I just want them to work.
Can someone please tell me if I have the right understanding of the wiring?
Can I go straight from the light bar into the back of one of the headlights to pick up that high/low beam signal (diagram A)? Or does it have to run through its own relay (diagram B)?

Wiring through a relay will be as follows. This is a 4 pin relay which should be suitable..Most people do recommend a relay to take the load off the headlight switch....And for $20 or so, cheap insurance me thinks...

30...Main power...ie from the battery or alikes

85...Earth....Self explanatary

86....Power from the high beam wire of the car

87....From the relay to the light bar....

When you turn highbeam on, the light bar should illuminate...If it doesn't, swap 86 and 87 around because I might have misread the diagram I was going off

Hope this helps you... :)

as vc listed
ensure to get a relay that can handle the load
but add a fuse inline to wire 30, size will depend on lightbar current draw
and ensure your wiring can handle the lightbar load
technically illegal without a separate switch
but i wont tell if you dont

i would wire it in before the high beam relay
with an isolating switch
but each to their own

Aren't these negative triggered ?

I put a light bar on the Adventra,
but the Relay and wiring was already there from the PO,
and its trigged from the HB relay,
without an isolating switch.

Technically speaking they're surposed to be on a seperate switch, but the OP wishes to have it operational everytime she flicks the highbeam on, hence why we have posted up how to do it that way....

Age old thing...Only illegal if you are caught ;)

I love the LED light bar, ;)

I even bought one for the VE,
But haven’t fitted yet ;)

PS: the ones I bought,
came with the number plate bracket.

Where did you get the light bar with number plate bracket? Been thinking about putting lights on the front of my VY, hence the query
