Only going on the report listed ^. But if it were on a freeway, where pedestrians cyclists are banned, then how according to the police was he going to get off the freeway? Was his intention to catch a ride with the tow truck driver? If so, was he to be left alone with his vehicle to wait for the tow truck.......he could have driven off in the vehicle(even if the police took the keys, he could have had a spare) and done some more damage to, doesnt sound like correct procedure was followed, and/or that current procedure is lacking and in need of reform.
Keeping an open mind until there is more information, which hopefully will all be made available to the coroner who will make judgement based on the facts, not whether he thought it appropriate that this person died simply because they were hooning.

Does sound a bit strange the whole thing.

I still believe in the system they have made on hoon drivers, More this type of driving excessive speeds dangerous driving is what it should be more on, Not some oldies off the lights chirping in the rain.

But i know he would not have been there if he didn't speed, But i can't see death being the ultimate punishment, He could have learned from this and reformed, But he wont be given the chance to. And in that way it's a shame.

VN V6, nothing special
Earlier in the evening, police pulled the young man over after he was detected travelling at high speed along the Princes Freeway in a green Kia Rio.
Lmao a kia rio? this is a joke right? lol.

And besides, what dumb **** walks on the freeway? you would have to be an ignorant bastard to not take a ride from the police, just because they impounded his car because he stuffed up doesn't mean there the bad guys.....

And besides even if you did refuse a ride from them, why wouldn't you call your mates/family to pick you up?

IDIIIIIIIIIIIIIOT! dumb enough to walk on a freeway and you deserve what you get (harsh but true)

Under the circumstances given, the person was not under arrest at any stage once his identity had been confirmed. He was free to do what he wanted to do. Therefore if he wanted to walk off he was free to do so.

If he was so concerned about wanting to organise transport either to his destination or closer then he would have stuck around.

Without full evidence, I'm not all comfortable, legally, in 'duty of care/negligence' terms with this event; *as it appears*.

Well see.

This is not a shot at legislation which may or may not require amendment.

Australia is under International obligation to keep pedestrians, horse drawn vehicles and cycles off 'motorway class roads'.

All this incident doesis highlight how stupid the hoon laws are. He wasn't hooning, he was speeding. Scrap the speeding law if speeding is now hooning, and the when old grandma gets clocked at 61, impound her 1 owner torana aswell.

Princes Freeway if the artical is correct. Which means it would be an offence for a pedestrian to be walking along it. Which means the police should have made sure he got off it by means other than walking. But the report indicates that he was sitting in his car and just disappeared so they've covered their tracks there by the looks of it.

Not a very hard thing to do in any modern car. Even my old 1998 Hyundai Excel could exceed that speed, and quite easily.

Your'e right, its easy to do, but would you choose a Rio to do it?

as if the cops would have gone looking for him though the truth has been bent a little bit i think. they would have gone to the car seen hes gone and laughed to themselves and hop back into there car

Why should the police go looking for someone who walked off in this instance? He was not under arrest, he was free to go. There is no duty of care to ensure a person who has broken a law gets home safely once the offence has been dealt with. Try to think before you post next time.
