  • G'Day Chris, Think you can get codes out.....I'll try a search of my files as I'm pretty sure you can read some of them.
    Regards
Don't worry about it - hope it helps you out some time. By the way, we're up at Proserpine - drove from Toowoomba on Sat towing an Avan - had the overheat temperature light and chime come on after a very long climb.....pulled up and thought the worst....coolant tank was full and overflowing but engine not boiling and no hot engine smell...gauge on 1/2....let cool down, topped up and drove a further 100km at reduced speed. Left it overnight with no further loss of fluid - noted that when engine warmed from cold that I could feel warm coolant flowing thru the top radiator hose indicating thermostat stuck....also when engine was hot I could squeeze hoses in indicating no pressure in system. So engine boiled due no pressure and restricted coolant flow. Anyway, Supercheap to the rescue and a new thermostat and cap put it back to "as new".
    But I was lucky eh!
    Regards
I've got the factory manual on my PC and can copy to a CD if you don't have a copy....it is much better than Ellerys or Gregorys. It used to be available online but then it was removed.
Only problems I had was with brake shudder....never had it before in any car and it was annoying in the Magna...so first off I got new front rotors ($90) and Bendix pads ($60) which improved it slightly so then I did the rear which removed it completely. However it returned about 10,000km later...I think it's pretty common (doing the same with my Territory). Also I changed the transmission oil completely (12L of fluid $130). Battery failed.($120) rear muffler failed.($195). Replaced both rocker cover gaskets. ($54)
bought 2 tyres. ($180) fuel gauge sender failed. ($77)
Overall they are a great car to drive - my TL was noisy as they cut down on soundproofing but it had most of the features of the Verada....went like a rocket. We took it to the Great Ocean Road, up to Townsville X 2...out west the Charlieville a few times etc. Seats were good for travelling...boot a bit smaller than the Holden.
Sure am....just sold the Magna as I was always worried about the auto failing plus we needed something with RWD to tow a small caravan. Bought a Ford Territory which hopefully will do the job but chew more fuel and drive totally different. The Magna was a great car to drive.
My daughter has the Commodore which I still do all the work on which is very little luckily.
So I guess you have both?
