    Broken down .does fuel pump stop working on a 2000VT 6 cilindr when its really low on fuel

    The pump was stoping becausecthe fuel fiter was bloked but i changed it .it worked for a day and then would not start again .then belted under tank and ran twice but fuel got very low and stopped again.now i cant hear pump at all.does pump need fuel and does it have a low fuel cut out?? Please help as stuck on side of road broken down!!
