68 HK Kingswood Immaculate (NEW Interior Pics)

I've invested in a 68 HK Kingswood i managed to pick-up from an old fella for a very-decent price, who has had it in his shed for 30 good years.

-It's a 3 speed synchro column shift 186 with. 169,794 miles. White, with aqua blue interior. It came with the original, genuine holden gear-lock mechanism.

It had seat covers since new, dash covers, steering wheel cover and parcel shelf cover. In other words, the interior is f****** immaculate.

Have taken the interior back to its original state which is the blue/aqua colour with vinyl floors and white interior roof.

So far i have:
- Had rust repaired on rear doors and front right hand side.
- Stripped the colour from the hubcaps (as they were mismatched) so they are all clean chrome now and touched up the white steel rims.
- Red-walled the tyres.
- Obtained an original owners manual for a dandy price.
- Had a good cut and polish, and it looks absolutely smick now.
- Hid a headunit in the glovebox and speakers under the dash.

I plan to keep my VY Berlina and have this car just under the cover to drive on the weekends.

Plans for the future:
- Respray engine bay including repainting the actual 186 engine with Holden Rocket Red.
- Applying new engine decals
- Repairing the rubbers around the window seals
- Replacing interior light
- Replacing drivers side armrest and fixing the locking mechanism

Thats about all for now! I'll upload some photos to show you how it is coming along!

Any suggestions are openly welcome!

Cheers

Is it on historic rego? If you join a car club, you can drive it 90 days of the year and get much cheaper rego :)

If I recall correctly, the hub cab centres on base model HK's were satin black. On HT's, white and HG's were red.

Also, the all synchro 3 speed was an option on HK's and not many owners took up the option which was a shame. The old non-synchro box was a piece of light-weight crap and the all synchro was a much stronger box and easier to use. Your car would be very rare these days.

Yeah i realise the colour difference of the hubcaps throughout the models, i basically wanted to strip them back to the chromey centre because they were peeling and of differing colours, then i intended to repaint them with the correct colour. I will still do this in the future to return it to original, but at the moment i don't mind the clean look.

Thanks for the advice about the synchro mate, good to know!

Its in extremely good condition, take very good care of it.

I highly recommend you pull the bench seat out and redo the springs to stop yourself sliding into the door constantly if hasnt already been done.

Hahaha, yeah the bench seat is great when your not flung halfway out the window on a turn.

Yep, will get engine bay pics as well. The bay is pretty dirty and basic and needs a respray to the original colour.

Thanks very much!
