Nice! Thanks, man :)
I kind of feel like it'd be a pretty fun project as well, to be honest. Just taking the seats out one by one, and recolouring them as such.
If i feel like it - i might even do the rest of the interior to match :o
I never think to check Gumtree... It would probably serve me well to consider it in the future, haha.
Thanks guys, i'll check out a few more options. The trade idea is another good one. Hopefully i find somebody who's up for it! :)
The main reason i'm asking is because i don't want to shell out the amount it would cost to buy replacements :/
Even wreckers seem to be a complete rip off for those sorts of things. Not sure what happened to paying minimal money for things that would probably otherwise be destroyed or go...
Hello again, everyone.
Just curious to know whether anybody here either knows of an effective, lasting way to change the colour of the interior leather, or has done it themselves.
I'm considering changing from the cream interior colour scheme to black. I've read that the top few layers may...
An informative response, gungazza. Much appreciated.
In reality, though, it was due to what i consider justified paranoia of potential damage to my car. There's no need for me to make the job "easier" when it's an automatic car wash :)
I do quite like the look of it without the spoiler, and sealing the holes is easy enough with some silicone and moldable aluminium compound, however - my main concern in that case is how to make my rear lights legal again. It's a requirement to have 3 working brake lights, as far as i know, and...
I've been paranoid ever since i saw my friend go through an automatic carwash in his supra, only to have it rip his spoiler off and smash the back window with it :P oddly enough, the biggest cost for him was the interior detailing afterwards.
Hi there,
I was having a particularly frustrating and exhausting day/night, couldn't be bothered washing the VZ, and instead decided to just take it through one of those dodgy automatic carwash places as everything else was closed. I figured unclipping the loom and undoing four nuts was easier...
Thanks man, i'll give it a go!
I'm usually just concerned about removing bumpers because my VT bumper destroyed itself when i tried to put it back on :/
There's probably a thread on here somewhere showing how to take one off the VE though :)
Hey all,
Just realised that when i try the foglight switch, nothing seems to happen when the lights are off, or the parkers/headlights/high beams are on.
Any idea what the easiest way to get to the fog lights is? I don't really wanna remove the whole bumper, and don't have an area at my house...
Wow... There's a lot of detail there to look into, haha.
Thanks heaps for your responses, guys. This will really help me pick something.
On a slightly related note, anybody heard anything good/bad about a place in Brisbane called "Rob Bliss Exhausts"? I've gone there a couple times to get cats...
Oh man, i'm getting excited about this now haha.
The OTR intake and tune will really add power and economy? I've always been confused about that. I've seen so many contrasting opinions regarding the effects of different exhaust systems, seems to be an everlasting dichotomy. Anybody happen to...
If i was to go with the series 2 upgrade, would i also be able to swap out the sub amp for my own amp, and switch the drvers for something a little better? Not sure if the amp that's in there with the standard 11 speaker setup is part of the head unit or not :/
This pleases me greatly, haha. The lack of drone is a welcome feature, as far as i'm concerned - the deeper the noise, the better.
How much was that setup, and how long did it take? :)
Hi there!
Anybody know if putting some VZ Calais powered seats (leather, preferably) in my Lumina would be as simple as removal from the rails, and installation to the lumina rails? Will i need any additional looms/bolts/mounts/anything to install them and get full fuctionality?
Any standard timeframe for getting the work done? I was gonna get a custom setup on my VZ (out of necessity, mind you. The poor thing used to live at the beach) and the guys told me it would take half a day. Makes it a bit difficult within business hours during the work week :P
Hi!
Anybody got any ideas on what kind of exhaust setup I should go with for the Calais? I love the sound it makes already, but i'd really just like a bit more volume, the thing's almost too quiet as it stands :P
All stock currently, not even entirely sure of the engine model, but it's the...
Hey Tazzi,
Nice thread, lots of interesting stuff in here.
Would you know, by chance, what the best option would be (if any) for replacing my Calais's rear drop-down dvd player for something USB compatible? Or even just a screen with hdmi inputs i can plug a gaming console into or something...
@alba81
I booked the car in with the dealer, and they ended up changing the battery and some fuses, replacing a loom, and then telling me the harmonic balancer issue is "perfectly normal" and "doesn't need replacing", as well as saying the fold down dvd player for the rear seats (which i found...
Thanks man.
The 30 day thing not being legitimate, what do you mean?
I'm just assuming 30 days is what they're giving me, since they didn't specifically outline any timeframe, but 30 days is generally the standard.
Again, thank you for your suggestion, i'll keep it in mind.
Hey all,
Just wondering - it's not yet been 30 days since i got my Calais from a dealership, and have noticed some issues. I figured driving it for a week and keeping an ear/eye out for some stuff would be advisable, and then i could call them back to have them fix whatever ridiculous issues...
Hi all,
I've checked the manual, checked online, and checked in person, but still can't seem to determine exactly what model my head unit is in my 2010 Calais. I think it's the series 1 "IQ" head unit, but i'm honestly not sure.
I'm considering changing head units, primarily because (due to...
Yep! All correct, with one exception. They didn't specifically say the errors during diagnostics were the immobilizer, they told me the battery and the ignition key contact ring were the cause, and that the replacement of those parts could have been the reason.
Yep, it was all fine prior to...
Sorry for the delayed response, i only ever have time to respond after work.
So... In response to Immortality:
I called the mechanic i got the work done at, and they said since they assume it's an electrical issue, there'd be a significant charge/wait for calling out the same auto-electrician...
Hi there,
Not sure if this is the right section to post this in, as i'm not sure what the issue is, but i assume electrical.
I recently got my VZ (auto) back from the mechanic, as it had been stationary for about 9 months while i was away, and it wasn't maintained during that time. I got a...
