check dfi under the coils or the maf that can be cleaned and u could try paper clip trick to get any fault codes if you dont have one there is a VX downloadable repair manual online somewhere

i doubt it ... these diffs would make other noises first undo the diff inspection plug and check oil level and colour if required replace the diff oil and check for metal in the old oil (two litres ) a diff if that bad a clunk as you describe would be almost falling out of the car

a worn auto can clunk like that ... i mean any auto 250000 km up

auto or manual tranny could be a few things the gearbox or engine mounts you can easily check diff lash before the diff by rocking the main drive shaft back and forward by hand (there is a spec for that movement) what type of drive shaft you got fitted there centre...

if the rear suspension parts check out ok my thoughts a warped, out of round or bent mag from a pot hole if the spare rim was the same as road tyres .. they should have swapped the rims if not ...chase a used mag that matches your set

list the symptoms of the car before the engine light came on using the paper clip trick ... did the engine light .....ever flash code 12 (normal)

if it cranks that much its normally a spark issue check fuel leaks at injectors and the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail then.. DFI ' coil packs' leads and plugs . if all ok and still no start if the engine light is on try diagnostics (paper clip trick )

the tail shaft has been split and not marked so is out of balance drop into a wrecker and get one ... far easier that trying to re balance that explains engine mounts vibrations automatic issue
