RELAY..all sorted thanks for reading my post........Found a diagram of where the relay is located... and some F###head (previous owner) had put the wrong relay in.. they had a blue stripe 4 pin in it when it should have a yellow stripe 5 pin..the middle 5th pin is the EARTH...to operate the relay...

Your tacho signal wire is on the passenger side in the wiring harness between the firewall and the spring tower ...it will b on it's own sometimes with a bit of insulation tape on it....all other gauges u are better off using electronic ones...

Need some info on short shifters.....The length on the stick from the pivot ball to the top is shorter....but does the length from the pivot ball down to gear linkage alter ??..

Have had the same prob some time ago....Turned out the battery in the key head was flat,won't shut the immobiliser off....and the sad thing with vt's is u can't replace the battery..I had to get a new keyhead and then got a locksmith to program it to the bcm..

Need help....98 vt 5ltr....after about 10 mins of driving the engine light comes on and stays on,,,,the engine does not shut down,no other bells and whistles go off,just the engine light.....the light will stay on until it cools down......what the hell would be causing this ??

with this one sometimes u can hear the pump going and other times u can't,now the engine won't go at all and I can't hear the pump,it is only a spare car so it don't get driven all that often,the gauge is showing that it has fuel,I didn't want to put more in it in case I had to take the pump...

Question .........VR commodore, if the fuel tank is empty will the pump keep going or will it stop ??

Think u will find the crank angle sensor has **** its self.....u will have to remove the harmonic balancer,to get to it..

CHECK IT OUT !!!!!! friend of mine had the EXACT same noise....turned out the (tin) ,,yeh true tin spider retainer that holds down the lifter locks broke,, which allowed the roller lifter to turn sideways on the cam...... completely screwed the cam and lifters........ so it is worth the price...

Congrats !! aussieakito If you are not running one then u have over run the engine imboliser.....the idea behind the piece of **** is.......the key blade acts as switch for the bcm,,,,,, the keyblade is earthed and as u put the key in and turn it the small tit on the keyhead touches the ring...

GETRAGS !!!!!!!!!! Been there done that........The input shaft BEARING is your problem... They are a bloody tuff box until something goes wrong,,then the bullshit starts u will be told that it will need a rebuild ( thats crap ) some will tell u it can only be replaced by pulling the box apart...

U mentioned that u tried the ecu that came with your new motor....That will NOT work ,,these cars are fitted with mini computers .. u must use all your old comp stuff cause it is programmed together.....the lower bcm is married to the ecu..that is why it won't start.

The tube that the throw out bearing slides up and down has become dry,making the bearing carrier bind on the tube.....I have done over the years greased the tube by putting some bearing grease on a thin stick and put through the opening where the clutch fork comes out ......works fine......Hope...
