My VY II is not running smooth

I doubt it, if the DFI starts playing up it will only last a few days before completely dying. They are the sort of thing that normally either work or they don't.

My VY II is not running smooth

Try replacing the plugs and leads, they can be bought for around $100 the lot. Also test your coils with a multimeter or if you want spend $70 at Mace Engineering and replace the coils too. Can't remember the price of injectors but I think last time I looked they were around $350 a set, so not...

I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see if I can glean any info on how to fix this annoying problem.

    Petrol filling

It's sounding like an at least 26 year old problem that Holden never solved...... Seems to affect ute's and not sedans or wagons. Some say it the breather, but I replaced every hose on my tank except the biggest piece that joins the metal filler neck to the tank as that's not the restriction, as...

    VS ute diff ratios

Got a link? Some of the eBay gear sets are not much good as they are poorly manufactured. I bought a SH set off a diff builder. They were the real deal not Chinese.

    Petrol filling

What happens if you trickle fill, with it cutting out 40-50 times, getting that last 25L in, does it fill right up to the top of the neck like it should?

Once I get my heads fitted next week, currently with Merv Gray that he has had for three months, that will partially determine my thoughts on his work. If I can feel it in the pedal and see decent gains on the dyno. I will talk with him next year, when hopefully he gets on top of the mountain of...

Be nice if TK lived closer by I'd probably have got him to fit my heads, thus giving me a reason to pick his brain on other performance mods. That's the one thing we lack here is a well known person who you know, knows his stuff. My machinist builds race engines but he has so much work on you...

    VS Commodore Electric Regulator Replacement

Just had a look at those factory manual directions and they seem to make it hard to get the door trim off. All it is is you open the door and undo the three screws you can see in the vent entrance. Then you pull that piece out, it will snap out but shouldn't break. Then you push on the vents...

    VS Commodore Electric Regulator Replacement

Nah, no need to take the mirror off. You will need a cheap trim removal kit to get the vents out or you will scratch and gouge them using a screwdriver.

What next will they try to flog for stupid money ???

Probably 30mins from Town, the other listing is two hours away. Both are dreamers IMHO. The ute is ready for the wreckers, or maybe panel beaters as it's already been de-badged by the look of it.......

IIC, the old Red heads are able to take bigger valves, that tends to get better gains that porting does. Also IIC I'm fairly confident Yella Terra did fit bigger valves to Holden heads? Buick I was told are too close together, so can't be done. I would have coughed up the extra few $100 to have...

    Petrol filling

I was told on my old bus I should get at least 40km once the gauge reads empty, no such luck, I've run out twice. I no longer chance it.
  14. L

    Yella terra

My heads are in getting ported, just some mild work and a bowl job. I heard from the machinist a customer of his did a small amount of work and got some noticeable gains. Bloke said he was surprised that just tidying things up and a bowl job would make much difference. I'm hoping for 16-20kw...

    Questions about bleeding brakes

I've been doing it the gravity way for a few years and always had a firm pedal. I used to knock it, until I gave it a go when I had no one to help, done it ever since.
  16. L

    Questions about bleeding brakes

This is why I just gravity bleed for the last few years. Always doing car stuff on my own. Does take a while to do the rear lines, as they drip through pretty slow.

I seen another thread today where someone else is having problems since fitting cam in 304 VT. I suspect he could potentially have the same issue.

    VQ seat options

That's good. I only saw the ad on my phone and saw local pickup and didn't see they would freight. But a better look and I can see it now.

    Petrol filling

Not sure if VZ's have the same problem but VR ute's are a prick to fill up. From empty they will take about 35-40L no worries, but the last 25-30L it's a matter of trickle filling it. PITA when it takes 10-15mins to fill your tank.
  23. L

    VQ seat options

OP is in Sydney. You can use a VP - VR Exec seat if you need something cheap to bolt in. Don't use a ute one though as they are slightly different. It will fit but will have less functions.

    Dent Removal Kits

Think I won't waste my money. I will probably leave it to a skilled person. I would have loved to have the ute ding free this year. Looks like I will have to wait until I need to head to Hobart which is less than once a year or wait until I head to Adelaide, just not sure when that will happen.

I normally just crack a nipple and let it run through on its own. Repeat three times and your done.

Thanks Chuck I scrolled through using the search term you suggested and found it. I have replied I might try and figure how to save it in my favourites.

    Dent Removal Kits

Did anyone end up buying the kit and did it work. I have half a dozen small dings mostly in my tailgate I want to get fixed. The paint-less dent bloke is 3hrs away, so big day just to have a few dents massaged out, plus it's a day off work.

Anyone know where the thread on the eBay dent puller is? I tried a search but I'm obviously not using the correct search term as it's not coming up.

    Repco sale

Not sure who uses 15w 40 mineral but I just ordered 5L of Nulon at Repco for $10. That's cheaper than the cheapest GW oil.

    Rocker cover bolts

Bolts can get stretched threads, but if someone stretched a RC bolt they must be done up very tight. The bolts even have a bit that stops them from being overtightened and squashing the seal.
  33. L

    Rocker cover bolts

If you were in near me, I'd give you one. The bolts don't really wear out but the seals can.

What is inner nut on brake calliper

No there is no adjustment. You grease the pins and do up the bolts and that's it. I'd have to pull my brakes apart to check but that hex is part of the slide pin IIRC. Been a year since I replaced my pads so I'm a bit vague.

I remember 22/23 years ago, I had run out of money and all I could afford for a few days was a some pumpkin, carrots and sweet potato and made a mash and bread. I was on the street though. But it got worse for day and a half I run out of my vegies and bread. I was so hungry I waited at Banjo's...

    Losh's VR Ute build thread

Yeah if you don't mind having a look, but please don't go out of your way. Even if I do find some, I don't know how to swap them so chances are they will sit around for a while. Having said that I do collect some parts for the one day I can fit them. The Stato door trims went on pretty quick but...

I guess they need to cover this in broad terms though. Because occasionally petrol station delivery drivers fill the tanks with the wrong fuel and to make a claim you first go through your own insurance Co. .

    Exchanging ecu

My Capri would smash V8s on a 200m drag, even 308s and 302 XCs no problem at all. Mate's 302 XC would catch up and pass me, but off the mark I had him all day. Over 400m yeah he crap all over me. I don't know what internals my 2L Capri had, I thought it only had extractors, 45mm webber and...

    Exchanging ecu

2L Cortina engine with some basic mods will blow away a V6 Buick even with a few bolt-on's. I had a 2L in a 68 Capri and there wasn't much around at the time where I lived that could beat me in short drag. Let the clutch out, floor it and tyres would light up no problem at all. I had no problem...
