I would be tempted to eliminate idler pulleys, power steer pump, water pump. With the belt off can you grab and move the water pump pulley up and down or when you spin all of the above, do any of them feel rough ?

Sounds like either tyres or balance, as you mentioned you can drive out of it, try swapping fronts and rears around (rotation) and see if problem goes. If it does get them all balanced again at a DIFFERENT shop. You don't mention if its only been there since new tyres were put on.

Just a thought, give a couple of reputable engine reconditioners a buzz and ask their opinion on removing it.Surely they have faced the same problem with some of their customers exchanged engines

Your commodore has a 6L80E 6 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION from memory, not a ZF transmission. As suspected, it didn't do it when going straight into drive, I would be more inclined to get your dealer to check final drive ( diff ) for excess back lash, and/or tailshaft couplings.

Sounds like driveline slack (play ). Try reversing in your driveway at night and then only selecting drive first thing in the morning and see what issues you have then.

Just as easy mate, thermostat is simple as to remove, and being self bleeding makes it even easier. Do a search, theres some good hints on doing the job.

No the fuse wont emit a click! :doh: If the relay is not stuffed you will feel and hear the contacts within, Have you checked what MYVESSV8 suggested

Have you checked the relay in the fuse box under the hood. With the lights still on, when you pull the relay you should hear/feel it click. Instead of disconnecting the battery simply pull the fuse, if the relay is all good might be the switch buggered. My money is on the relay
