How I repaired the flat battery in my VZ key fob...at home...for free.

I haven't seen this on the forum so I hope I'm not doubling up. Note: this whole job requires care and patience but can be tackled by anyone that can solder well. My Monaro key went flat. I unlocked the car manually with the dead key and the alarm went off. I searched google for answers and I...

    Removing rear view mirror?

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! DoNOT pull the mirror off the windscreen as described above!! I did it as described and as you can see pulled a chunk out of my windscreen. If you look under the mirror stalk where it meets the glass you will see a rectangular slot. Insert a flat bladed screwdriver into this...

vz calais coin lid/ storage compartment

Just a note of caution. Take care if purchasing off Ebay as the rear of the console has a similar compartment and the lid is available separately but there is a difference in the shape.

    Stalling VE

If it's stalling on gas & petrol it's most likely an electrical fault. I have been using LPG for 30 years and whenever there has been a problem with both fuels it's been electrical. Just thought it might help to narrow it down.

Positioning of front springs into struts. Help needed.

Hey thanks guys nice to get some helpful info. Yeti you are spot on as I eventually found out how things line up and the W does indeed line up with the endlink bracket. The instruction I eventually found said "Install the upper spring seat (6). Ensure the double notch in the upper flange of the...

Positioning of front springs into struts. Help needed.

Hi, I have checked the forums and can't find an answer so here I am. All the info says that changing the front springs is very straight forward and so it is except, does anyone know how the top plate relates to the bottom plate (the one welded to the strut). Unlike the previous models the VE...

Need help on how to remove square towbar from vz sv6??

If you mean the hitch and not the whole receiver (bar) then follow Ricey's instructions above. Look under where the hitch slides in for the bolt. It stop the hitch from rattling. Cheers Stu.

Need help asap!!! Vz ss ute 5.7 cooling issue

If it's not leaking externally (easily spotted via stains ect) then must be leaking internally ie head gasket. As mentioned get a preasure test done or is the motor running as smooth as normal? If it's developed a rough idle that's bad. Run a compression test or pull the plugs when the engine is...

    HELP!: VZ Calais overheating/Leaking coolent.

Just double check that it's actually coolant leaking from the back of the motor as the air con drain is in about the same spot and with all the humidity lately mine drains a fair bit when I turn the engine off. Usually drips slighty to the right hand (passenger) side if looking from the front...

Monaro radiator hoses, what's the difference??

Hi all, I'm replacing my radiator so I decided I would also replace the top and bottom radiator hoses as while I'm at it and was told by Repco that the're a genuine part only as the VZ Monaro ones are a specific part ie different from sedan. Just wondering if anyone knows what the difference is...

VZ Monaro GenIII overheated. Radiator Cap???

Thanks for the reply Ricey. I agree that it doesn't sound like the thermostsat but for the cost $9.70 for the cap and $38 for the thermostat which comes with a new housing (this was trade price from Holden) I decided to buy both as the dealer shut at lunch time. Just got back from a 50Km run...

VZ Monaro GenIII overheated. Radiator Cap???

Thanks for the thought. Checked the thermostat in boiling water and seems to open OK. Just got back from Holden with rad cap and thermostat and will try them both.

VZ Monaro GenIII overheated. Radiator Cap???

Hi guys, Just want to know if anyone has a better theory. On our way back from Melbourne to Canberra today we stopped to change drivers. Shut the engine down and when I can back from the dunny it had dumped a heap of coolant. There was no coolant trail and nothing under the car except where the...

    VE Lower Grill

That's a good price. I made my own as the're way to expensive from Holden $170 ouch. If this had been available when I made mine I would have bought it but check how it mounts a the pic is pretty crap. Holden make a nice thick plastic one as well that matches the grill but not for Omega. Bummer...

    Must read for ve owners

The only way to learn is have a go but Jesus. I kicked myself when I buggered the clock spring but I am a hell of a lot wiser now as are you. There are a lot of "Nay sayers" and "I told you so's" on the forums but I'm sure you've gone over it a thousand times in your head already. I guess the...

    VE wiring

Well done! I find theses forums fantastic for getting info. I had the same questions when fitting a towbar to my Omega ute but luckily I had bought the bar from a wrecker and once I found out that my problem was I was missing half the harness I just went back and they gave me the rest which...

Chrome door handles. Anyone tried a set from DRL Trading on Feebay?

If you have tried a set please let me know what the quality is like, do they fit well and do they stay on. I have a white Omega ute and I think the chrome might look better than the crappy black ones. Thanks, Stu.

VE Steering Wheel Removal - How To Take Off The Airbag

Hi all, just a few things to make life a little easier. 1st I just used a short pair of long nose pliers in the closed position to release the air bag. Pushed the point into the slot and the handles made it a lot easier to lever as your using your whole hand. 2nd why bother buying a Torx bit...

VE Ute towbar wiring harness conects to where???

Hi guys, OK I sourced a genuine Holden VE Ute towbar from the local wreckers which came with a harness but while the bar it's self only took an hour to fit I have spent a lot more time trying to find where the harness plugs in. The harness is about a meter long with a Holden 7 pin flat plug that...
