I own a centrifugal charged VT and I think it is rubbish on the street compared to a turbo or top mount supercharger.
Did the suspension have time to settle into place? How long had it been in your car when you measured it?
Use the internal pump as a lift pump for a surge tank feeding the 044.
I would go for the 5.7 over the 5.0
Considering the oldest VT 5.7 is now 14 years old, piston slap should not be an issue now.
Hope you never need to make a claim, and if you do your car is exacally as it was when it rolled off the showroom floor, otherwise they will try...
