Opinions needed on header and OTR choices.

I went with mild steel extractors as I had heard of the cracking issues stainless headers can have. Have liked Genie for years and I actually had a chambered X pipe fitted to my cat back after reading a post of yours @Not_An_Abba_Fan. Have enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and learning from...

They are rather bland and yeah thought the same thing regarding performance. Pleased others haven’t had problems with the VCM. Well, I did see there were some problems with the earlier model but I haven’t seen anything about the newer one. Hoping it turns up soon.

Manual, I’m glad too. Easier to keep it quiet when need. Especially now with those extractors fitted haha.

Opinions needed on header and OTR choices.

I was looking at the Ramjet 3, it was my main choice until I found the VCM with fascia bundle for cheaper than just the Ramjet without fascia. Still waiting for it as the post has been slow. Can always swap it later, am interested to see a comparison but I couldn’t find many reviews on the...

Here are the Genie 1 7/8” 4-1’s but the model that fits VF’s also, slightly different to the VE only ones. Was assured they’d fit fine and are tuned length. Got them from the Narangba dealer, Carline. Keen to hear them in action.

Opinions needed on header and OTR choices.

Had a chat with Rodney and he’s happy to do a quick tune up but reckons it’ll run pretty good as is. Looking at doing a cam swap later on so obviously it’ll get a tune then. He said the Genies I like will do the job and I found a VCM MAF retaining OTR bundle kit for a steal online. Went and got...

Yeah that’s it, always wanted to keep it a local build. Supporting our locals is what we need right now. Cheers Keith, great birthday by the way haha. Take care mate.

You’re a legend mate, thanks so much. Been looking for a local tuner, love it. I’ll have to post an update after it’s all done.

Awesome, thanks for the reply and your experiences mate, definitely looking into VCM OTR’s then, since you haven’t had problems. Will be getting it tuned after fitting so I guess I’ll see what the tuner reckons about the MAF, happy either way. Should have mentioned they are Genie 4-1’s then...

Opinions needed on header and OTR choices.

Yeah the 1 7/8s seems to be the best size for overall performance and the Genie mild steel ones are priced very well, just hoping they don’t hang low and cause clearance issues. Not planning on lowering it much if at all. Going on a manual SSV too. Intake wise all I care is that it’s not going...

Hey all, hope you’re well, As the title suggests, I’m after opinions and if anyone’s had experience with Genie’s mild steel 1 7/8 headers for their VE/VF? Am also looking at the Ramjet 3 OTR but obviously concerned with real world problems like rain and heat soak. Interested in their “best...

VZ timing chain, when to replace.

Could be oil pump too mate, they seem to get lazy around those K’s. I’d definitely consider getting it replaced with the chain, try a thicker oil for now. Have heard guys run 40-70w when really bad. cheers

    Highway mods

Hi mate, I’d recommend a set of extractors or headers to go with your OTR, Pacemaker are highly recommended but there are a few good brands out. Regarding the OTR you can decide to retain the Mass Air Flow (MAF) or remove it which will require a MAFless tune. You could upgrade the exhaust with a...

    The Trump2020 Thread.

I really don’t care for American politics and don’t know why so many Australians do. Neither side of the current political system is going to save us now, the death of humanity would be good for this planet. Everyone thinks they’re “dogs gift”. The right, left and centre. It’s just human nature.

    Ve exhaust mufflers

Yeah, for some cheap noise that won’t drone like a set of rear muffler deletes on a stock system. Just remember the stock system on a VE SS/SV6 is 2 1/4” and VE/VF Clubsports, Maloo’s & GTS’ scored a 2.5” system stock. Also, on a stock system if you delete the centre muffler, you’ll need to...

    Cam suited for auto

I agree mate, far too many people only interested in the money rather than the customer. A new set of extractors will liven it up and make it a bit more fun, good place to start. There’s a few different types of extractor too, as I’m sure you know. 4 into 1 at 1 7/8” Pacemakers are what I’ve...

    Cam suited for auto

Before going in talking about cams, get them to diagnose your problem first. If the diagnosis is what you’re mostly wanting. There are a lot of cam brands and options, plenty that won’t make your car a “pig” if tuned right. There are also cams that retain AFM/DOD. Do your research if your hearts...

    Sand in engine

Since they’ve already apologised for not fitting your air filter correctly I believe that’s all you need if he did try to screw you over. Keep all receipts and if need, get a second opinion. Your oil pump is most likely stuffed and sounds like your motors developed a knock, I wouldn’t be...

Turning a vx executive into a s pack

Butterfingers is right, it is your car after all so do whatever you think looks good. Could be a good opportunity to learn a few things if you haven’t painted before too. Nothing wrong with a tidy VX, they can look pretty tough. Post some pics if you do decide to go for it. Good luck mate.

    VF sv6 exhaust recommendations

To be honest, I don’t think it’s worth putting a full aftermarket system on a VE/VF SV6, they come stock with a good system already, flow wise. Unless you can pick up a twin 2.5” cheaply but no guarantee there’ll be no drone. Cheapest option for some noise and no drone is to swap the stock rear...

    Ve exhaust mufflers

Keep an eye out for a VF GTS centrepiece. From what I’ve played around with and come to learn; it’s the stock centre muffler that causes all that drone. Shouldn’t cost too much considering what it is.

Slicks VY S2 SS M6 RIP

Back in 2005, my Dad won a brand new Impulse blue VZ SS in a raffle. Then bloody sold it. But not before a young me had fallen in love with it. So naturally when I had the funds available, I got myself something similar: VY Series 2 SS in Quicksilver built 28/10/03. Mods: -Pacemaker 4-1 headers...

VE CALAIS 6.0 V8 TICKING NOISE

Hi there, it could be the lifters or injectors are beginning to show their age or another possibility is an exhaust leak. Someone else might have another idea too, hope that helps somewhat. Good luck.

Just upgraded a VF to a VE

You speak the truth friend, VF ‘s remind me too much of a Camry or Aurion. OP made the right decision. That LSA is one hell of a donk though.

Was going to say the same haha but I still don’t mind a nice tidy stocker, if that’s what the OP wishes.

    MACE Cold Air Intake

That’s MACE’s fault? What were you hoping for with this post? Plenty of others have installed their own with no problems mate. I’d say if you have a drama, take it up with the person reading the instructions.

Just upgraded a VF to a VE

Ah it’s definitely worth it for that v8 rumble and performance. They are remarkably quiet stock, couldn’t wait to change the exhaust on mine either. It’ll serve you well, I’m sure mate.
  31. Slick_Vp_23

Just upgraded a VF to a VE

Congrats mate, have always preferred the look inside and out of the VE’s to the VF’s (VF GTS’ aside). Anything you miss about the VF? Enjoy your new v8 mate, maybe a new cam build ahead? Haha. Have a good Sunday.

    Cam suited for auto

Hey there, since you’re looking at VCM on shelf grinds, I’d recommend the VCM480. Should have a nice ‘cammed’ idle while retaining reasonable fuel economy. It’ll make good power and still have some manners if tuned well. Going larger may require a stally and will put more stress and wear on...

    Revving issues

Far out, that’s terrible mate. I hope you are able to sort this out and get your money back. The OTR itself would have a warranty, if it’s the OTR that ends up being the problem, the manufacturer should have to front repair costs. I’d definitely have a chat with Fair Trading though. Hope you...

    Revving issues

That’s insane! I’d threaten that you want this fixed or you’ll be taking him to fair trading, especially if he supplied the OTR. It definitely sounds like a bad tune or faulty goods/work. Fair trading might have some advice for you but I wouldn’t drive it until it’s fixed, who knows what else...

Hey mate, maybe ball joints if you haven’t replaced them with the lower control arms? +1 for sway bar link pins and struts/strut tops. Good luck

    Rotor/Caliper problem

Well.. Turns out it is the rear axle -_-. I've found one and it'll be going in soon hopefully. I hope that's where the problem ends. Thanks for the help everyone. :)

    Rotor/Caliper problem

Hey, well I jacked her up and had a look, it appears that LAP004 was right, it wasn't just the caliper that was slightly bent but the bearing seems like its collapsed, causing the wheel to wobble and hit against the caliper. She's in the shop now, getting a newer caliper put on and the bearings...

    Rotor/Caliper problem

Yeah mines live axle, it seems as though the top of the caliper has been bent, and there is no gap between it and the rotor, as it has left a scratch mark running around the rotor. Hopefully it is merely a caliper replacement so I guess I'll see if that works. Thank you for your help, and if I...

    contemplating buying a VN...

I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but I have a Vp also and I much prefer it to the ecotecs. They may be more economical than the Buick engine but in terms of power they are a little slower and start to die at about 130-140kms. I've "tested" this by "safely engaging a Vt commodore in a...

    Rotor/Caliper problem

Hey everyone, I have searched all over Just Commodores for a solution to my problem, but I have found nothing concrete sadly. Basically what happens when I drive, is my rear right brake rotor is squeaking in time with the wheels rotation, along with some pulsation in my brake pedal. I have had...
