    E10 vs 98RON

My 2011 VE 3.0 liter (E10 sticker on the fuel flap) is just about to click over 300000klm. I've used E10 for years, about half the time on standard unleaded. About 2000ks ago cat code came on. I put octane booster and premium fuel in, cleared the code, and it ran good. When I tried it on E10...

Sloshing sound coming from fuel tank when stopping?

This might be unrelated, but my VE rear doors keep filling with rain water, sounds like what you are describing. I haven't found the cause yet, only pull the rubber where the wires go in the bottom of the doors. If anyone has had this problem, and found a solution, I'd love to here it. My VE...

Diff oil - needs change or not ?

My VE has done 300k and diff is fine, no attention. If you want to change it just get an oil suction hand pump and suck out what you can. Refill till the gear oil comes out the hole. Someone on here will have more knowledge about this than me. If in doubt just change it, cost a few dollars and...

VE caliper slide pins and bolts.

Where can I buy new caliper slide pins and bolts. They are near impossible to find online. For such a common part, why are they so hard to find? I just need one pin and bolt to fix my car, do I have to spend big money on a full caliper repair kit, or does someone here know where I can get just...

Is the VE 2011 SPORTWAGON the same as the ute? OK just had a look, the wagon has clearly marked (with an arrow ->) tabs. Push and the light pops out

    Vs fuel mistery ?

OK, thanks. I'm still battling with it. Filled with petrol it is just missing all the time under load (not dying on corners) . I'm thinking the wiring to the DFI module might be sus, or the plug leads. Or the coils are all bad ? I only changed one and moved it to all positions. Spark seems...

    Vs fuel mistery ?

Well I got a new coil and tried it in each position. Same symptoms. Runs great cold. Missing at normal operating temp. Dies going around right hand corner with low fuel ,so I think the return fuel line is off inside the tank. But if this is the only problem it should work fine with a full tank...

    Vs fuel mistery ?

Ok, I’ve had heaps of trouble with coils on this car. I have thought of doing just what you said, but haven’t tried it yet, because they are all sparking ok. (At idle, might be bad under load though) I changed the dfi module in the past, so I hope it isn’t that again. Got a box of coils, but...

    Vs fuel mistery ?

Ok, so I’ve done the basics. New injectors, new fuel pump and filter, new air filter, cleaned the chamber, maf, etc. My car is VS V6 manual. New spark plugs, leads tested good. Coils ok I think. Here is my problem, the engine is missing when I put my foot down. Ok, lots of things could be...

vt shuddering problem - plugs? leads? coil pack? help please..

Wow big answer , just a quick note. You say change the fuel pressure regulator, like its changing a pair of socks. But have you seen how much SCA are asking for one of the these?! At least 1-2 hundred dollars

vt shuddering problem - plugs? leads? coil pack? help please..

Did you make sure the new fuel pump is in the right place. If it's the same, the one in my Vs was sitting beside /behind? The swirl pot not in it. Ran out of fuel when it still had a 1/4 tank left. I drove like that for ages with problems like yours, till I found a great link on here with photos...

Yeah ,if no spark from top of the coil, that coil is shot. I've replaced lots of them. Good luck.

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

OK, put the new plugs in, 1.5mm gap NGK was all SCA had . Definitely did help (new fuel filter too), more power. And cleaned the MAFS again. It ran smoothly, almost perfect for half an hour. The engine is missing constantly now. So frustrating, checked the leads in the dark, no visible leak...

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

OK thanks mate. The old plugs are going in the bin tomorrow. and I'll gap the new ones at 1.5mm as spec. I'll give the MAFS another spray too just for good measure.

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

OK, pulled the plugs and checked the resistance of the leads, (and the new injectors just in case.) Leads checked out fine. The old bosh plugs were sparking yellow, with gaps of about 1.7mm Cleaned (and set to 1.1 mm the plugs) the MAFS and it went like a dream for the test drive. However...

    Spark Plug Removal

Wow, and I thought I had problems:) OK I found this old thread trying to find out the thread size for a (3.8 VS) compression test kit. I'm sure it's a simple question too, for those in the know. Just want to make sure the kit has the right fittings before I buy it.

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

OK. I'm sure the manual said pull the fuse. I'll use the relay from now on, but the starter should still work with the fuel pump fuse out, right?

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

Yeah, I will do. I hope It's that simple. Also have a strange symptom, when I remove the fuel pump fuse, (to depressurise) the starter won't turn over. I remove the fuel relay and it will. Figure that one out?

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

Yeah done the DFI and coils not too long ago. I am going to check and replace the plugs, leads are new (ish). I've done CSA before, and agree it shouldn't be that. Had thought in would miss all the time if it was the plugs, but they might be breaking down under heat/load?

VS MISS-FIRE UNDER LOAD, POWER LOSS AT OPERATING TEMP.

Hi I'm a bit stuck with this problem. I have a bad miss-fire at about 2000 to 2600 RPM. Worse when hot. Probably needs a top end job, (slight oil in coolant, oil clean) but I can't afford that at the moment. Worse under load, seems to go away over 3000 RPM, but I don't want to have to rev that...

    Checking 6 Speed Transmission Fluid

Thanks stooge, I've been looking hard to find the info you put in #11. I doubt if all the service places I've taken my car know the correct way to check the transmission oil level. My car sometimes won't change up, after hard acceleration, more when it's cold. Do you think it could be low on...

    How to: R&R a T5 Manual Gearbox - V8

The idea to idea to "remove the shifter with cover assembly and tape over the opening so you don't hit the floor or gouge stuff" was a big help to me too, as I could only get one of the allan key bolts out of the shifter lever, (other one stripped), so the f***ing thing was at an angle but in my...

no I'm not bothered about a bit of shudder from the clutch, (though there is some, I know what you mean). No, this noise/clunking is there when just rolling with clutch depressed. (worse backwards) Also I did the clutch a while back, so don't think it would be worn out yet.

BACKLASH/ DRIVE LINE PLAY VS V6 MANUAL wagon

Thanks, but if it is a worn bush or bearing in the gearbox extension housing, is there anything I can do on the car , or will the gearbox have to come out for an overhaul? This is starting to sound like a big expensive job. I was hoping to change a bearing or two and get back on the road
