My 1986 VK first registered in 1987

I thought I better resurrect this as I have kicked myself in the arse and started accumulating some goodies after the old engine was running worse at low revs. I found out the reason which I thought was a burnt valve turned out to be a vary bent pushrod, The engine was always a bit off-beat but...

Extractors for VK Black 202 Carburetor engine

if you want to make the efi headers fit just make 3 spacers for you inlet manifold so they come out far enough to clear, you have heaps of room and cable has enough to reach.

    When was my VK made?

Australian export to NZ but it doesn't have the big VIN plate, NZ never required VIN plates until 1994. I know it's a nothing special car but more interested as the number doesn't seem to match what I see online. It is a 1986 model first registered in January 1987 BTW I am about to upgrade the...

Extractors for VK Black 202 Carburetor engine

to be precise, you can't put EFI factory extractors on the Carby engine with the stock carb manifold as not enough clearance

    VT Track Car

This is a good conversation, a mate of mine has been building and servicing race cars and his advice to me was not to a run a rear bar unless you need it. He wants me to run it after giving it a wheel align then tell him what it is doing and he can then work on fixing it. I would suggest this...

    Fast Internet?

I feel for you, and a lot of the problem must be local connections as here are my tests from Christchurch 8:20am NZ Local time Brisbane 76/84 (Voda) 58 ping Sydney 57/80 (Telstra) 156 ping Melbourne 47/81 (Telstra) 147 ping It was the same here in NZ, anyone can upgrade core components or shape...

    Fast Internet?

Yep thats quick alright, Corporate circuits are often on Gb connections and usually guaranteed (not contested), but its great to have a similar opportunity at home for NZ$60 a month now :) Even if it is contested it should give some very quick downloads and no doubt plenty of copyright...

    Fast Internet?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but looks like NZ is well on its way to having high speed Internet at home. One of my work mates did a test on the newly released Gb home connection here in Christchurch and got 636Mb Down & 548Mb up! Christchurch is the latest Gigicity, all 200Mb connection...

    Fast Internet?

I tried the same server as you, I don't do gaming but I would imagine it would be great for online games. I hope it it gets to you soon :)

    Fast Internet?

Speed tests are an indicator if you don't use your ISP as the Server. I used London Vodafone in the UK for the first test as thats about as far away as possible from NZ My local connection gets 98 down and 110 up but then its basically an internal connection at 2ms response.

    Fast Internet?

But what do you actually get and what do other places get in real speed? I am a Network guy and trying to get an idea. Btw here in NZ it definitely dpends on which ISP you use as they vary hugely

    Fast Internet?

Living in Christchurch and I have recently hooked up to a 100/100 connection and thought I would share and compare with what speeds you get in you neck of the woods. Interesting I spoke to someone in Melbourne and he was gutted at the speed I am getting and said on a good day he got 11Mbit....

    Front end Clunk in VN

Yep, it took the guess work out using the camera. If you know how loose a $2 one is can I suggest spend more or find some under the age of 50 ;)

    Front end Clunk in VN

Cheers everyone , I had a thought, I might set my dash camera up and move the car around until it clunks and see if I can see it, move it to all the components until I find it. I did try to get some movement from the shock but failed, the z-bar is a good possibility but again couldn't see much...

    Front end Clunk in VN

I have myself VN manual with 235k's and in an unmolested state apart from the obligatory pod filter. The original owner sold it to the Grandson and I am the first owner outside that family. It has a few issues but as its a typical Canterbury car, no rust but has seen plenty of dusty roads...

    Hydraulic throw out bearing?

HI I want to know if anyone has done a Hydraulic throw out bearing on a T5 before? I also have a VK and would love to use one on the 5-speed in that too. Any part numbers or models would be great. Sorry new to the VN so not sure what model T5 it is either.

137k's on the clock. Manual 5-speed I have replaced the factory dizzy with a VH one and it's running sweeter but need to do some more TLC under the bonnet which includes a paint when I pull the engine out to freshen, The suspension is completely new with upgraded spring rates and new KYB Gas...

    VK project car

I like the 202 and I have an 86 vk manual which will stay 202 as well. It will stay original motor with some tweaks and you can make something healthy from it. if you want power then LS it but power is not just about engine it is all components, rewire, brakes the lot. Do what you want not what...

    SS from across the ditch

Dyno showed 180kW@5750rpm at the rears. This is still only 9.4:1 compression so I reckon it's not to bad although I have lost a bit of torque which we are going to try and regain next week!

    SS from across the ditch

Bit of a late update. Well I went back out to the drags and won the run off decider I had to have with another driver after the last meeting was stopped when a big accident wrote off a rail. I managed to to beat him by 0.005 of a second and the car ran flawlessly the entire time which allowed...

    VR V-8 SS

Looking good Deuce. Sheesh, looking at the cam specs you guys are running I reckon I am in for some fun when I open the intake up some more. My cam in my 202 was a Kelford special grind and that did the business so I have big respect for our local cam shop. They also did the cams for the NZ V8s...

    SS from across the ditch

I made a small mod tonight as I spotted another possible bottleneck on the intake system. I already have a home made cold air mod and decided that the horrible left hook the air takes from the airbox could restrict the flow decided to fix it by turning a spare top back to front and making an...

    SS from across the ditch

Ok so I got some more Dyno time and it looks like the intake is the next factor as it reaches 222hp at the rears and flat-lines for over 1000rpm with a 2hp variation. Both torque and HP were up with the twin system I built and it is now running 14.4-14.5 @ 97mph consistent with [email protected]...
