Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

Update: About two weeks ago we FINALLY got new key fobs sorted at our local locksmith. It took him less than 5 minutes to sort two key fobs. They came with new Holden badged cases and solid buttons too. So far not a single issue with the locking and unlocking of the car, we can do it from a...

    VT commodore v6

To test the instrument cluster bulbs, hold the "mode" and "^" keys on the trip computer panel. This opens up all sorts of fun functions. Use the mode button to toggle through to the cluster bulbs test. It will squeal at you and all gauges will go to half. Check for the cruise and active lights...

Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

Thanks guys for all your help. Issue hasn't risen again but reckon it's only a matter of time. I don't think it's a wiring issue. I did notice that when the key fobs were being ignored the immobiliser flashing light would flash three times in quick succession. Normally it only flashes a single...

VX commodore Oil Leaks - Diagnosis

News to me... I'm with Lex, ours hasn't been done. We got our VT at 80k km in '04, rear main still going strong at 360k km. I'll be expecting a groove in the crank by the time we come around to replace it... All seals will die some day! We keep oil changes at 10k km or as close to as...

Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

Hmmm... One has a new battery, the other which is our current every day use one still has the factory battery in it. No joke. It used to be the spare key until the main key fob died. I think we're going to have to go down this road. Where can I find the key code on the vehicle or the key...

    Crank Angle Sensor Replacement

What's the reason for replacing the harmonic balancer? I've done the crank sensor but kept the same balancer without any issues. Cheers Bennie

    Knocking sound VX L67

Yeah wow. Almost looks like it momentarily dropped a valve into the piston. Just a side note, I recently found this article about replacing rings, don't do a hone on the bore to seat in new rings: http://www.snowvalley.20m.com/bikes/dnthone.htm All the best with finding the parts ;) Cheers...

    Common high KM problems?

Interesting. I swear the original units were glass. They were replaced due to broken mounting tabs after hitting a kangaroo. Cheers Bennie

Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

@_R_J_K_ - I don't see how this is a fuse issue as the fob is accepted once it's been in the ignition in the ON/run position... Everything on the car worked as it should've on our 200km travelled today. @figjam - I did the forced twist of the driver's door key barrel and it finally let go and...

Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

Yeah there was no chance I was going to hook up the battery backwards! I'm a pretty competent DIYer... Subarus and old Holden's are my forte. I've not had to do much on this car :D Thanks for the other suggestions. Forcing the key didn't seem to work. And I'm not keen to push it super hard...

    Common high KM problems?

Old thread but I'll throw in my 20c worth ;) 2000 VTII Acclaim v6 auto. Km now: ~360k km. 80k km when purchased in '04. Issues encountered, dates only as km number at that point in time wasn't recorded. 2007/2008 - head unit upgraded to an aftermarket cd/iPod/aux/radio unit. Factory speakers...

Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

Thanks BlackVXGTS and RiffRaffMama. It's actually my wife's vehicle (can provide rego number to check vehicle status on the vicroads web page if you're really concerned) and seems to be one of the better units around that goes against the grain of "commodores are **** etc etc". We've had it...

Vt issue - can't get in the car :(

G'day all, I've read a few threads about this using the search function. Our situation doesn't quite fit anything that I've already found on the forum. Basically I can't get into the car (series2 V6 Acclaim ~360k km) by the key fob or manually using the key. Both key fobs don't work, one had...

Have you looked into an instrument cluster specialist? I'm sure they could rebuild the original cluster but at what cost/wallet damage I don't know... Cheers

    VT passenger door issue

G'day, Got an issue with the front passenger door on my wife's VT - it can't be opened or closed without first pulling the lock button up hard enough to hear a click sound. I cannot find a definitive answer to this issue with the search function as all other issues discussed seem to be...

    Ute Tent?

G'day, Just joined up to help you out with your enquiry. www.uteswags.com.au I first saw them at deni a few years back and reckon they're a great idea if you had a hard lid ute. Personally for my travels I go for a roof top tent - but we're all different and have different needs too ;)...
