Do you have the tow-ball attachment connected at all times? If so remove it and see if the noise goes away. We have BMW's do this all the time at work. Owner will use the trailer over a weekend, comes to Monday and the tow-ball/neck are still connected to the car...and it's rattling.

Nice pickup. I work on these everyday and can say that the V8 produced for these (M60) are one of the better engines produced by BMW. I've always liked this colour and the wheels contrast well!!!!

Sounds similar to a wheel bearing issue. Best off to jack that side of the car up and feel for axial play - put one hand at 12 o'clock and the other at 6 o'clock on the wheel and rock it backwards and forwards. If it moves, there is an issue with that sides wheel bearing. Alternatively, spin...

Sounds like, from what you've described, that the transmission is slipping. Have you checked the transmission oil level? There's a dipstick in the engine bay, you'll need to do it while the car is running though (just in case you didn't know). Hope this helps a tad mate.

My car does the same. It's on struggle street when you start it cold of a morning, shakes/rattles/carries on until it has got a bit of heat into it and then it runs like a dream. I've also noticed that it idles like a bag of s**t when its warm.

Sounds hectic. If work was performed at a workshop I'd be getting it towed there and telling them to deal with it. If not, check the timing case for things that could've come loose etc. I've seen tensioner bolts left loose and they've let go on first start and caused all sorts of dramas! Good luck!
