Hey guys, having problems with a vx. it has no electrical power what so ever. not even the odometer reading on the dash. the battery is fine. ive checked the main fuse in the fuse box to. Is there anything else it could be? any help would be great. Thanks

Is there a little red padlock flashing on the dash when this happens? my vz done this a couple times and I was told to press the unlock button on key before you start it.Even if the car is unlocked. I always press it now before I start it and I have never had the problem since.

I always use bosch when it comes to electrics and they have never let me down.

Have you had your air con on? if so then its condensation, nothing to worry about.

I think it should be against the law not to have one, It could save a life at the end of the day.

I would get the bcm checked. Maybe give an auto elec a ring and see if they have had this job before. It seems pretty common.

some radiators only leak when the car gets very hot and pressure rises. Maybe take it to a radiator place and ask them to pressure test it.

It could be one of your pulleys, did you check them when you had the belt of? You could spray a bit of wd40 into the bearings on all your pulleys and see if it stops.

It depends on what you will use the car for. If its your daily drive then I would go a new car. If its a weekender then look for something older than a vp or more collectable. On the other hand if you have your heart set on a vp , try and find a vp ss. You don't really see to many around...

From memory does the heater hose/pipe(metal) come out behind the tensioner somewhere? That could be trickling down the side of the motor.I had to change the o ring on one when I replaced something once. could be a split o ring? sorry its been years since I worked on an ecotec.

As stated above bp 98 all the way. I've ran it in an ecotec, alloytec, 5 litre and a gen 3. It was the best for all motors.

If its only happening in first and drive then maybe its the solenoids on your gearbox. Or something else to do with the gearbox. If it was a motor problem it should be doing it in all gears. I'd still do the thermostat and also get an auto transmission place to check it out.

Maybe change the thermostat for one that opens earlier , replace all your coolant at a 50/50 mix and bleed the system like EYY said. It could also be your throttle position sensor?
