The Big Espresso Coffee Machine Thread

Oh they're all over the place. Obviously way better, but they're over 4x more expensive. Aldi is the only decent supermarket bean I've tried. They're roasted* in Melbourne

SOLVED: Dead battery 3.5yrs old - CENTURY 68MF

Good tips. Yep, it will not be driven very much (in fact parked interstate...) Should it be OK if I just disconnect it when I leave it? Give it an overnight charge when I come back? The Century battery replaced an Exide battery that also died after 3yrs with reasonable driving until COVID...

I'm going for 22F680SMF under their recommendation. Is 780 not overkill?

SOLVED: Dead battery 3.5yrs old - CENTURY 68MF

ahhh damn well there you go - I had no idea 6mths would kill a battery. yep after some further phone calls and reading this morning, I'm off to get a AC Delco (so much cheaper than century too, whats up with that)

The Big Espresso Coffee Machine Thread

I've got a Rancilio Silva i picked up second hand cheap. Not sure it's all running as it should be. Usually blasts out, giving me way too quick a shot. Steamer also seems too strong. I've adjusted grind but it seems like I have to go finer than I should be (setting ~5/20 on a Sunbeam...

SOLVED: Dead battery 3.5yrs old - CENTURY 68MF

Heyo, I left my SS in the garage for 6mths but forgot to disconnect the battery, which is flat. A Century Ultra High Performance 68MF with 36mth warranty, but purchased in ~Sept 2020 The indicator panel shows it as RECHARGE (clear ring, red dot) as opposed to FULL or REPLACE. So the battery...

What is a good head unit

Bit of a thread dig but I'm looking to purchase one now - was yours plug and play or did you have to mess around with hardwiring?

    Vx altezza headlight globes

What globes came with them? Overall were the altezzas easy to install - I've got a set waiting for me to find some time. Any mistakes or tricks you wish you'd known about first?

    The Bicycle Thread.

I bought a Kona because the shipment was supposedly 2-3wks away, but it took another 5mths. If you just want a gravel bike I'd get whatever you can find in stock, there are so many decent gravel options these days.

Anyone tried a cheap Android touchscreen head unit?

That's what I figured. Any plug issues? Need an adaptor loom or anything? I'm looking at something like the link below, so I can DIY and rear camera set up too...

    The Bicycle Thread.

You can snap one without much power from cross-chaining via poor gear selection though. Or from poor quicklink installs, but that's not so much snapping the chain itself really

Anyone tried a cheap Android touchscreen head unit?

Just wondering if anyone's tried one of the cheap <$200 ones you see all over ebay and kogan now? Looking to replace my old single din Sony unit and something with Android connectivity and reverse camera compatibility seems pretty handy. I know there are better brands around but the price...

    Interior Restorers Melbourne?

Jees seats are expensive! Really not fussed with leather though, if there's a cheaper alternative I'm all for it. Any decent places for aftermarket generic "sporty" seats? Anyone had any specific roofliner companies that seem good?

    Interior Restorers Melbourne?

My SS Fifty is looking worse for wear after 20 yrs inside the cabin (and out actually). Looking for any advice and recommendations in Melbourne for places to get the following down: - headliner / roofliner sagging - new seats? or maybe reupholstery for seats if cheaper. (going for a yellow) -...

    VZ Monaro front ends

Yep yep yep OK. I'm in melbourne, but original post was more a general question about has anyone done it, rather than asking where to go. Basically I saw the bumper, thought it looked good, wanted to see if other people have put it on to see how it turned out and if there were headaches. Found...

    VZ Monaro front ends

Has anyone put a VZ front bar on their VT-VX / VU? Looking at getting one to replace my damaged VU SS bumper. Hoping others have done it and can share some experience/tips/issues they ran into. Mostly I'd just like to see some photos of how it turned out.

vx ss commodore front lower grille

Not a big response unfortunately. Hopefully this bump helps. I'm looking for an alternative VX upper grill that won't require a headlight (just bought a new pair to suit the VX bumper shape, ready to go in) or bumper change too Any tips would be appreciated. Photos even better

Aircon in VU stops blowing after a while

OK yep could definitely be icing up then. Have tested it the last few days, and when it blocks if I just hit the A/C button and blow plain air through it, it starts blowing fine after about 45seconds again. What's the solution?

Aircon in VU stops blowing after a while

Basically the aircon runs OK to begin with, but then after a while it barely has air coming out of the vents, and it sounds like it's all blowing or getting stuck behind the glovebox. If I turn it off for a while it gets fine again. Have poked my head under the glovebox and took off the cover...

VX SS - Dumped coolant - is this a head gasket gone?

Yep thanks for everyones input. Looks like it was a faulty cap indeed. The inside of it was cracked and broken out as you can see below. $8 for a new one! The other $10k worth of engine leaks and issues however.....

VX SS - Dumped coolant - is this a head gasket gone?

Red coolant ey? What's the difference? It was constantly leaking so I just went with the cheap option.... TBH I don't know the level when it was cold, as I said the service guys would have filled it only a week or so earlier so I hadnt check yet. You can see in the video it's pretty full hot...

VX SS - Dumped coolant - is this a head gasket gone?

Ah yes it is a VU SS (Gen III) (I just say VX because people usually get confused when I say VU). I thought they were the same under the bonnet. Did you guys see the video I linked showing the coolant overflow(?) tank where is seemed to be leaking from? Can I just check the engine oil colour...

VX SS - Dumped coolant - is this a head gasket gone?

Hi all, After some opinions as I'm unsure and worried about doing more damage. Gut feel is I already F'd it. My 2 questions are: 1. Is this probably a blown head gasket? 2. Can I (cautiously) drive at all? 22km to get it to the mechanic. I recently had a looong overdue service and among the...

Help please - Fixing a broken horn (for a noob)

yep thats a valid point! I punched the steering wheel and it stayed on for a few seconds, then a few days later randomly stuck itself on until death 15mins later while parked in the middle of the day. I really hope I dont have to take apart the steering wheel because I just know I'll explode...

Help please - Fixing a broken horn (for a noob)

Ok cool. Next question, where is the horn in a VU and how accessible is it? Is it like a VT somewhere behind the bumper on the drivers side? If so, I'm probably gonna need stands or something so I can get under right? Also, i dont have a 12V battery handy. Any other tricks to see if the horn is...

Help please - Fixing a broken horn (for a noob)

cheers for the start guys. jees I hope its not a bent plate. OK lets start with the fuse then. What i thought was the fuse was the relay. This thing: (it's a VU SS btw)) the fuse is somewhere under the steering wheel then yeah? which one is the horn's, and if it's blown the little metal bit...

    Checking error codes VT/VX

Hey guys, I've bridged the ports but there is no flashing when I put the ignition on. The light is just off. If I start up the engine, with the bridges still ported, the light stays on.
