Turn the gain on the amp right down. Then turn the volume on the head unit right up, preferably while playing a bass heavy song. Now slowly increase the gain. If you hear clipping of the subs or if the fuse blows, back it off a bit and leave it at that.

Don't forget to check brake fluid level after and if needed get a mate to help you bleed the system
