Just sounds like a 20 year old suspension set up. All new bushes shocks and an lsd should wake it up. mrs ute had a fair bit of roll I did bigger shocks 600-1000lbs/inch progressive rear springs, rear s pack sway bar and a tight lsd .
I'd definitely shim the lsd they wear pretty quick 20k ago...
Hi guys my senator auto fried last year and a mates offering me his vt 5 litre at a decent price. So I'm hoping to fit his package while I finish building my new motor and box.
What differences are there bolt in/running wise into the vr? Do I run the afm and sequential injection and pair it...

Hey guys bit bored today and have no running car at the moment to go get some different allen keys to swap my VR motor out so I thought I'd post something.
I bought this car about 14 months ago with the plans of just cleaning it up a little.
I bought it a Holden Converted RHD TRANS AM ( not...
No worries man, I'm just used to nissan's where the ecu literally only works the motor so you unplug it at the computer , feed through firewall and install new motor with loom already attached. Yeah the old computer worked fine, I might have to get another memcal for it as I can't be bothered...
The fact that legally on my skyline I can't run a 7.5 on the front and a 9" wide wheel on the back even with the same tyres. In theory I can have 9's all round but then it's not roadworthy because of the amount of camber I need to run to clear the guards.
Hey JD if you ever wanna come play datto's n kick my arse into gear give me ahoy n come drink my beer! Motors all assembled I've got the four pot fronts n coil overs already in and the whole rear subframe with discs and an r200 just never seem to wanna do anything to it ;)
Bretto cheers for chiming in dude, I was going to disconnect the loom off my old motor and reuse it with the new one sitting in there. You reckon I should use the loom off the VT or swap the couple little sensors off the VS motor onto the VT one man?
Alright no longer raging. Due to the fact that's a 1993 I know that it's a newer model motor but wouldn't the emissions have to require the same output as the original motor if not better? I've already got extractors on mine and I'll happily swap the intake manifold over I was thinking you meant...
Farkk didn't realise their was this much difference. The VR's already had an ecotech conversion but soon I didn't do it and neither did the old owner I don't know whether it's got a VS or VT motor in it or what but after all that I'm now assuming VS all the wreckers told me their was no...
Fair enough.
Spigot bush in the back, will I be able to break it and crack it with a screw driver ? Or mig something on it to pry it off?
Do I put the vt computer in my car or leave it VR?
Is it a few hour job or a day job to swap a cam?
Good to see another datto owner, I've got a 180b with a rebuilt motor on the stand and a garrett draw through set up pretty much just needa put it all back together =P Motivation is what I'm lacking at the moment!
Hey guys, my VR I've owned for 4 weeks has spun a bearing :( Mrs borrowed it for work as the svz was being serviced. Drove 80 kms to work 75 km's home ran beautifully til she turned into my road and it started knocking like the red cross. Seeing as I bought it as a daily so I could finish a...
My vr's a daily I own 8 cars lol. And I'm sorry about the rant it's just nothing worse then hearing someone speak about cars as if they're a piece of **** and then ask how you put on of their motors into one of their cars. You'd want to spend 20-30k to turn a HR into a decent drift car...
If you read what I wrote was that koni's on full adjustment are about as stiff as bilsteins BUT I wouldn't go bilstein if you don't want full stiff. I've owned a few cars with fairly modified suspension running Koni and Bilstein, Koni yellows on full stiff are pretty close to bilstein sprints.
I'm biased because I love RB's but it really depends on what you want to go for, it isn't really a fair comparison seeing as my RB is in a much lighter car then LS's come in but my stock 25's beaten slightly worked ls1's without an issue stock. How quick do you want your car? Do you want torque...
Man I don't mean to be rude but here comes a rant, I own an australian car a german car multiple japenese cars and an american car. If you hate those " ricers" so much, Build an australian motor rather then degrading japenese cars and then asking everyone how you fit one of their motors into...
If it sits an inch or two under the brakes I'm surprised your clutch still works. I have to drop my box in the next couple of weeks as I keep losing pedal and as soon as it drops a reasonable amount I can't select any gears. If you think it might be your cable I'll send you a cable for $50...
man the reason not many people run Koni's are the price. They're a fantastic shock if you want it stiff all the time I'd see if bilstein do a shock for it. Koni's are as hard on full stiff as bilsteins are but in my opinion a shock that's valved to be that stiff and that stiff only works better...
mine sits at 2000 rpm for 100ish now. I'm just used to owning cars that factory had 3.73 to 4.11 gears in the rear of them. Is they're any v8 diffs or any models that I could buy a disc to disc set up of that would have 3.45-3.7s? Or are all nineties commodores 3.08s?
Rb26's in all honesty are a piece of poo. They were built with the want to get every single hp available out of them. I'd go an rb25 a lot more reliable, cheaper and not that bigger difference when you start putting wind up them. after it's in for 2.5 grand you could have 430rwhp on a stock...
Really? Oh god, never owned a car that had same diff ratio between auto n manual. So these are meant to have a pretty much inusable 5th gear that sucks.
LOL rb30 cas and dizzy for added reliability, looks sweet bro but you're doing it wrong. New cas n coilpacks 6-700 on a 25 and you're good for 15-20 years rb30's came out with ignition issues little own now. Cas set up in them is ****, and buy a new cas plug they lose there clipping capability...
If you put a seal kit through the turbo 400 and just make sure nothings broken and give it a very thorough service probably nothing. When building my big block I asked " how strongs a turbo 400 good for 1000nm?" The reply was if you need a stronger box it'll have to come out of a gm truck.
I have a T5 behind the ecotec in my VR good combination! Oh and if you do the swap please try and find another diff with shorter gears as the manual is slightly less cool with auto diff gears...
Nice e30 m10! used to have one in my old e21. Go to bimmerforums.com and look up the build thread from qld? I think has a turbo 3.8 litre in the model before this. It's pretty boss.
I've read this thread from start to finish and I have to say two things.
1. Wow that's boss.
2. Man I'm glad I told a lot of people to f*** off when they told me to LS1 my Trans Am.
Fuel injection and reliability etc awesome. But for a car that doesn't do corners don't need all that respone just...
No worries I'll try grinding off the rear mount and see if I can drill a hole. Yeah I just wasn't sure about statesmen it all looks the same apart from the rear gearbox tunnel side it has a raised angle mount but it's quiete far back and I don't know if I'll be able to drill the hole on the...
Sorry I know it's a bit of an older post but have you actually driven a turbo car before? They only get laggy when you up the charger size ridiciliously and in the end good things come to those who wait. My 2.5 is on stock turbo makes 14 lbs at 2500 rpm and pulls 12.8 doesn't even give ve gts's...
Hey guys just bought a vs stato interior off someone who said the they bolt straight into a vr. Do VR and VS have different floor mounting points or does statesmen vs poverty pack have different mounting points? I just have 4 flat mount points these on the rear right have a bit of angle do I cut...
Thank you Npreston I will definitely give that a go mate thought it might not have a washer up near the pedal box or something he's going to come give me a hand later. The adjuster does keep coming loose as both times I've been able to tension it with my fingers. I'll try the zip tie and...
Hey guys this is about the second time I've had to do it in 4-500 kms on my t5. Is there meant to be a locking nut behind the adjuster ? Or is my cable stretched to fark?
God knows bought the car with a few issues on the cheap I thought it might be the coilpacks seeing as it gets worse in hot weather. But if it is the coilpacks I definitely have a lean issue seeing as the plugs are white if the coilpacks weren't firing properly wouldn't I have a whole heaps of...
