Cutting the top of the fuel tank to access inside

Probably STBO but we enlarged the fuel tank on our Rally car,guy doing it fillled it with water before cutting and same when braising(didn't weld) in the larger section.

Timing Chain Mechanic Recommendations North Brisbane

If you can't do the the oil change yourself always supply your own oil for the service, beats the hell out of cheap generic garage stuff. We ran a 24hr Roadhouse for 16 years and its amazing the shortcuts mechanics use,a lot just don't care..

Timing Chain Mechanic Recommendations North Brisbane

A lot of smaller mechanic shops only keep 5/40 in the synthetic range and its often a cheaper oil off the fringe suppliers, jungle out there.

    My Roof Re-Lining Experience

Good result and price, best to get done by a pro.,motor trimmers are sneaking up around the $500 mark when i rang around to get my 2012 wagon done, started around the visors, which i reglued, but shortly after the whole front section above the seats dropped. I went with a local bloke for $300,he...

Basically an Opel,1988 first models were rough, multitude of problems that were mostly sorted by 1990. https://www.instagram.com/p/CiMlmmvpu_P/?img_index=1

Where to buy front strut dust boots

Becareful on Ebay,i purchased a set and the dust boots were too short for the front struts, probably best to pay the extra thru Repco.

    Replacing sparkplugs

Yes,mainly NGK,pay the extra and purchase from Repco,S Cheap etc,not Ebay.

Replace a broken Front VN passenger exterior door handle

The engineering on VN door handles is ridiculous for such a basic, simple part, local panel shop is your best bet,fit it in minutes.

Quick access to VE Omega Ute Fuel Pump

Don't forget Abbott/Hockey had the final say,Labor offered 'no conditions' support to keep Holden or Toyota here.

    Buick engine

Yes,Holden engineers changed multiple things from the original Buick, both external and internal. IIRC crank and rear seal were modified as well.

If no one can help do an extensive Google,i've seen extensive Info. on the Holden Buick motor, may even be on this Forum.

VP V6 Power Steering pressure hose seals

Yes,OP is better off buying a new HP hose, they do fail regulary and cripple the car. In the early days of the VN/VP major dealers replaced the HP PS hose and HB at the 150,000K major service. Those days are gone with modern cars unless its a Service Bulletin.

    5w 30 vs 5w 40 in high km LFX

Yes,common attitude in some greedy dealerships. This always stuck in my mind,i used to work for GMAC in the 1980's,put the Co. car in for its 20,000(50,000?) service at a Sydney Dealership whilst i did a Floor Plan Audit. Lot of items to check/replace in the Log Book,a young apprentice drove...

VP v6 no spark at coils

Start with the CAS and work back again,is it the correct one for the HB?,they changed midway thru VP production. Check wiring around the DFI.....Good luck.

VF wagon, would you buy one?

It won't stop the drug addicted teenagers causing havoc in Qld.,they have capsium spray,Tasers, knives etc.,if they get in best to have a safe room, keep your keys on you.

    Vp temp gauge

No worries but i'm just saying to check it out. Somewhere along the production line in the early 1990's the sender unit specs were changed(new supplier?) and very hard to sort as back then Repco only had the one unit listed. Symptom was Temp gauge barely moving,as i said may be another problem...

    Vp temp gauge

Quote "If you look on the Tridon it lists a gauge sensor TTS062 for all models in my vp range…but changes to TTS064 in vs ..the only other difference is the other sensor that feeds the ecu that changes from TCSO40 to TCS070 on vs Ecotec engines". If you are silly enough to take Tridon data as...

    Vp temp gauge

There should be Threads on here about that, apparently there are sensors with different resistant ratings, the result where the gauge barely gets above a 1/4 means it has the wrong sensor. Not saying its your problem but worth changing sensor.

VF wagon, would you buy one?

Yes,i played Golf with a local ex-Holden Dealer last year, the price of V8's in particular were grossly inflated, even at Auctions. His wholsale buyer said the price of V8's were being auctioned at prices he would want to put them on the retail Lot for. When the prices/demand start falling the...

A/C Off Due to High Engine Temp

Sorry to hear that, been there with other cars i have owned, one turned out to be the thermostat not opening properly, bad batch/NOS,at least we didn't have to take the Tranny off to fix,VN. Another car,Datsun, was a cracked head. If having no joy with the original mechanic i would consider taking...

Muffler Delete drone from empire performance on 2011 SV6 auto wagon

I was thinking about a aftermarket exhaust for my VE Wagon,we went on a w/end golfing trip a couple of years ago, mate had a V6 wagon with a new exhaust, forget the name, red dog, black dog or something like that,Drone was unbearable, very uncomfortable trip.Never again.

Timing Chain - Series 2 VE SV6 Commodore

Yes,its still there but nothing like the earlier models. Well serviced VE11's are getting well into the 200,000K's on original chains. Change oil/filter every 5000K's and at least once a year.

    High kilometre wagon...

Yes,its a thing but some unitary contruction brands/models are more susceptible than others, stating the obvious. Holden is mostly Ok but dragging a large caravan around Aust. or similar work can affect the rear panels, boot etc,i've seen a car where the rear doors wouldn't open and creases on the...

    Omega parts carter- next project?

Yes,Holden should have fixed it years ago,my first VN,1989,lasted 5 years before sagging,my second a 1991 lasted 10 years. I just had my 2012 VE Headlining done $300,lasted 10 years and looked fine but parked it at a Hospital all day in the sun last week and came back to find it collapsed,not...

I saw a set of genuine Nasco blinds to suit a EH(may have been HR) in the early days of Ebay, price was in the thousands but they sold.
