Complete VN,VP,VR,VS,VQ,VG Headunit Guide [56k warning]

Great guide! However, I didn't remove the driver lower dash section nor anything of the aircon/ventilation. Also didn't have to remove the gray covers surrounding the whole section. As soon as you can reach the 2/3 (manual/auto) lower bolts you're good to go... Does anyone know if there are...

[VR-VS] HOW TO: change a serpentine belt (vs)

I've solved my little problem too, thread sealant in the remaining thread, let it cure for 15+ hours. Belt all the way around, except the water pump as it doesn't have an edge on the pully. Use the bolt to get the arm moving the first part, last bit with a crowbar and then slide the belt on the...

[VR-VS] HOW TO: change a serpentine belt (vs)

Might want to add somewhere that the tensioner pully bolt is left threaded. To undo the bolt, turn it clockwise! I didn't and ####ed up the thread in the tensioner arm  Put the bolt back in with locktite on it, now trying to figure out how to get the tensioner arm to lower...

[VT-VX] How To Change Trans Fluid (PIC HEAVY)

That is a very, very smart idea!! Both for undoing the pan and putting it back on! This is how a (my) gasket looks like when you've tightened the bolts too much: Don't tighten them too much!!

[VT-VX] How To Change Trans Fluid (PIC HEAVY)

I started the engine a few moments (3 times for 5 seconds) whilst in Park, to really get all the oil out. The Torque converter holds up heaps of oil and there is some in lines from/to the cooler too. That spat out at least a few 100ml all over the driveway...

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

Small update with hints & tips: Sticking the (cork) gasket to the pan with vaseline before mounting it doesn't work, the vaseline doesn't stick. If using a cork gasket, don't tighten the bolts as much as you can/feel is safe, you'll crush the gasket at the bolt holes, creating cracks. As I...

    [VR-VS] Fix VR-VS Key (Pics)

What if both your remote lock and immobiliser don't work any more? After checking it with a multi-meter you see there is resistance (1 à 2 ohms), but 0.000 volts. Even after applying 12V to it, still no charge. My conclusion is that the battery is simply dead after 18 years of charging...

How to bypass the immobiliser, don't want the car towed to the locksmith!

A bit of a major kick and with a slightly different car, but the battery of the key (remote lock and immobiliser) of my VS wagon died. 18 years of recharges probably got the best of it. My car is currently in a parking lot, 4 km from the holden dealer. However, I can only get a tow from a...

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

Nah, mounting the new gasket would have been heaps easier if I had a bit of that sealant, just to keep it sticking to the pan. The area is quite large and when fitting it a corner easily slips off its spot, but there is no room to fiddle it back in place (well, with a small screwdriver, bolthole...

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

No, I didn't replace the seal, as no seal came out when I removed (well, rather forcefully pulled out) the filter...

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

Filled her up to halfway the hot area on the dipstick. Took another 1,2L + a bottle of auto trans treatment stuff (you never know), which totals more than the 4,8L specified... Regarding the gasket, I've placed the cork gasket (no liquid glue gasket stuff) which came with the new filter. No...

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

Of course, the other oil level checks were preformed 3-7 times in a row to make sure (it's not that much of a procedure :P )

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

Okay, the torque converter holding oil makes sense with my experience with the difference in hot and cold level. I'll fill her up to the proper level (hot) tomorrow and post the results. I couldn't find a good answer/reason anywhere, thanks for the quick help!

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

As I said, I checked both, with very different, not corresponding results... Also very curious where the missing 2,3L oil went when I drained and filled it up again. I really don't want to overfill it.

    VS automatic gearbox oil problems

Hi guys, I've bought a nice VS wagon (V6 automatic, 260k km on the clock) about 2 months ago and now she's giving me problems. After a 1100km drive without problems, I suddenly have a gearbox problem. When cold, driving a few meters off in reverse and drive, sometimes I had to put the pedal...
