    Report a car sales yard

I did my apprenticeship with Mazda in the late 90's. Although we had a recommended time limit in which to get stuff done, but we weren't allowed to do 'roughies'. We had to tick off each item after we'd done it & if it wasn't done, it was a bollocking from the foreman...

    The dreaded 'MISS'

Right oh... Update time To recap the miss was there before I made any changes... The car has been well looked after serviced on schedule every time. Have replaced; plugs, coils, air filter & 02 sensors Upper cylinder cleaned (spray can method) MAF cleaned Miss is still there. The bonus is it's...

    The dreaded 'MISS'

I've never cleaned the MAF during my ownership, no leaks I can hear. Cheers, I'll give the MAF a clean Also got new O2 sensors on the way

    The dreaded 'MISS'

No, no cheap ebay coils. However the miss was there before the coils were replaced. It hasn't gotten worse with them in. I'll dig into your suggestion, cheers.

    The dreaded 'MISS'

Aye up. I have a MY11 VE Series II Calais (LLT 3.6) VIN 6G1EX5EV9BL543119 Engine LLT 179000kms on clock It's developed a pesky missfire... Not always noticeable but most noticeable when under load (going up a hill) & sometimes when coming to a stop it'll shudder, almost stall then recover...

VT Series 1 Driveshaft & rear sub into VY Series 2

Hehe.... That's one bonus in my favor... It isn't lowered (can't stand them) I might just park it up, rip the rear out & see what I can swap/keep to make the best out of both... S1 diff, S1 axels, S1 shaft in a S2 subframe.... who knows Cheers for the advise though chaps, always appreciated

VT Series 1 Driveshaft & rear sub into VY Series 2

If only it was that easy... Not only is the diff shot, but the hub bearings are whining worse than my ex, axle CV's are sloppy. With over 500 thousand K's it's all worn. To fix it all up, a bit at a time, it's going to cost a packet (I'm in NZ, everything is expensive... 91RON is over $3 per...

VT Series 1 Driveshaft & rear sub into VY Series 2

Thank you, Yes, I'm thinking about swapping the whole sub (can't just swap the diff & shaft, axels are different) I'm not overly fussed about a step backwards in rear end handling, after over 500,000 it's just a bit of a hack nowadays From what my eyes tell me, it looks like it'll fit, as long...

VT Series 1 Driveshaft & rear sub into VY Series 2

Hey all, I've just picked up a very low mileage (100K) VT Series 1 complete rear end (inc LSD diff & driveshaft) It has ABS etc, same as my current VY Series 2 (with 500K on it) My question for all you gearheads.... Can I put the VT rear & shaft into my VY? From a visual eyeball it looks as...

What octane fuel do you use?

I'm in NZ (North Island) it's everywhere. I have it in 3x vehicles. 2004 Commodore 3.8 Ecotec, 2011 Calais 3.6 LLT & 1996 Nissan Cefiro VQ20. With our fuel cards it's 1.11 per liter

    Cams and torque myths.

I have an old VYII with an Ecotec (go on, laugh, you know you want to) 3.8 I rebuilt & I stuck a S1 cam in it, huge improvement over standard cam, more torque, more kw, better economy. Mine pushes against the brakes at lights too, if I drop the idle down to where it should be (around 700rpm) it...

    My car won’t start

If you're hearing it prime when you turn the key on... Turn it off, pull the fuel hose under the bonnet (be aware of spray), turn it on, does it spray? is it getting fuel up to the inlet manifold?

Can I supercharge or turbo a VF evoke

The LF1, LFW (3.0s) were designed with economy in mind, so they made the 'fly by wire' response 'lazy & slow' on purpose Most daily drivers don't like mashing the loud pedal, so they drive more economically Plebs like me who drive a slightly tickled VYII 3.8 find the 3.0 responsiveness sluggish...

    Under dash panel removal method...

It was very snug in there... Even taking the electronic pedal out was a bitch because the top left 10mm has no visibility, it's a groper bolt (10mm, 1/4 drive, 75mm extension) Had to undo the ODBII socket, light switch, footwell light too. But I can say for a fact... It was well worth it
  28. Ralphski

    Under dash panel removal method...

Yes, because the bonnet release cable is only a few mm's above the plug, trying to push it off to one side to get the accelerator plug out/in runs the risk of creating a permanent kink in the cable outer (and there are some rather sharp steel edges around just waiting to go 'gotcha').

Sorry if this thread has been done elsewhere, I couldn't see it... So, I've picked up a 2010 VE Berlina with a LF1 (bit of an upgrade on my 3.8 VYII) However that throttle lag..... It's farking HORRIBLE!!!!!... I push the go pedal & it takes longer than my Mrs. giving birth to our...

    VYI Vs VYII headers

I didn't fully build the box. I bought it with low K's (only 150k on it). I only changed the oil n filter in it & put new solenoids & a shift kit in. (All can be done by only removing the sump pan). My car had just reached 400K the motor was rattly & the trans was a bit slushy/noisy/slippy.
