Where To Buy Bilstein/H&R Combo in SA or Online?

Hi all, I've been out of the V8 loop for a while so long time no post. Excuse me if this is posted in the wrong section. I was just recently doing some research into where I could source a reasonably priced lowering package of Bilstein shocks and H&R springs for a VE V8, but unfortunately...

Salisbury diff gears

A little off topic, but thought I would save making a whole new thread. Do all stock Holden/HSV 3.27 diff gears come with LSD as standard? Saw a second hand set for my calais that I'm interested in, so just wanted to clarify if they're LSD diffs.

Wheels For Dummies

This may be another stupid question (but I'm good at them :)), but one I just thought of: If I got a custom made higher offset at the rear (+50 or +53) will that mean the actual front face of the rear wheel/tyre will sit in farther than the face of the front wheel? Obviously the rear will...

ducker85, can ask you mate, are you confident cause you work in the business? Or you basing your advice on your general knowledge, or personal experience on the subject? I just ask cause I'm really hoping someone in the business can offer some professional advice, which would make me more...

Wheels For Dummies

Looks like I'll settle on the Bavaria BC5. Found out they offer +50 as the highest offset for the 20x10's, which sounds like it will be a better fit than the other choices which only came in +40. With a bit of luck, might get away with not having to roll the guards at +50 too. What you guys think?

Wheels For Dummies

Just used this calculator: Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com And compared HSV spec 275/30 20x9.5 at +57, with 275/30 20x10 +57 and they're the same. Is that correct? Does that mean if I find a 20x10 in a +55 - +57 offset, it will have the exact same clearance (or...

Wheels For Dummies

Thanks guys. No big brakes, and no plans to in the near future. Yeah brasher, I'd be going 275's. Is center bore also an issue to worry about? Stock VE Calais is 66.9 right? Does that mean the aftermarket wheels have to be the same?
12. E

Wheels For Dummies

Thanks ducker85. So I'm guessing anything over 50P is ideal, and even between 45-50 is at risk of rubbing if slightly lowered? 53P won't be too close to the brakes or suspension though? Also, this may be a stupid question, but stud pattern 5x120.65 will not fit our VE 5x120?
13. E

Wheels For Dummies

Hey all, can someone confirm if a 20x10 with +45 offset will be a better fit for my rears than a +40? By better fit, I mean the chance I may not have to roll or modify my guards? Awaiting confirmation, but I may have found a set of identical Bavarias that come in a +45, or possibly +53 offset...

Wheels For Dummies

Thanks mate. And I'm assuming the guards have to be rolled and modified to fit 20x10's? Any idea what offset is ideal if going for the 20x10's? Anyone?

Wheels For Dummies

These are the wheels I was keen on: [/IMG] I've found them online in the following: 20x8.5, 5x120 pattern, +35 offset, and 20x10, 5x120 pattern, in +20, +35 and +50 offset options Would these be suitable for the Calais, and if so, what 20x10 offset? Couldn't find 9.5's as...

Wheels For Dummies

Thanks for the advice fellas. I'll definitely take your advice and go for the staggered setup. numeric, in the event of a flat, would you recommend getting run flat tyres, so you can at least still drive it to a shop for repairs or replacement?

Wheels For Dummies

Hi all, I'm going to finally get some new wheels this weekend, and being my first VE and V8, I need some advice from any wheel and tyre guru's out there. I have researched and read many threads on the matter, but to be honest, I'm only more confused. I'm a dummy basically. I'm not really...

Anyone had experiences with leather repair as opposed to reupholstering?

Thanks for the advice mate. Although $250 sounds reasonable at first, I guess it can quickly add up if you want a piece repaired here and there, and then you run the risk of it not matching and maybe looking a little off. I will still consider it, but I might shop around and see if anyone in SA...

Black Wheels in prep for Brembo's - Not sure of the look!

G'day Damian, Is that car in the first shot, with the GTS rims, Evoke in colour? I've got an Evoke VE, and I've toyed with the idea of black rims, but not sure if it will suit, however, if that car is Evoke in your shot, it may just sway my opinion, as I reckon it looks pretty shmick. Haven't...

Anyone had experiences with leather repair as opposed to reupholstering?

Cheers for the info ari666. Yeah I'm well aware that reupholstering in a good leather is $3+ grand, hence why I was curious about these repair blokes out there and the price difference. Although it would be nice, I can't justify that kind of money on reupholstering a VE. If it was a show car...

Anyone had experiences with leather repair as opposed to reupholstering?

Become friends with a Ninja then go back to Holdens and ask your new friend to give that fella the 'Death Touch'. Lowering my Ve Calais

Fail!!! Just kidding, but..... Petey, take from a newish owner of a VE Calais also, stay away from Holdens!!! In my ignorance (being my first VE) I too thought Holdens would know best, how wrong I was! I was way overcharged for a service, got limited answers to my questions, and the service...

e85 in my ve ssv?

Based on Darren D's article, I'll happily find the extra $100p.a. and continue running my car on 98. It's getting harder to trust what some dodgy servo's are adding to some of these blended fuels these days, so I also think 98 may be the safest, and potentially less tampered with of all the...

First 1000 Kms VF SSV Redline - FIRST THOUGHTS

I thought Swede's were generally a fairly hygienic people, so they should keep themselves clean over time. With that being said, if you were one of the unlucky one's to get a dirty Swede over time, then yes, I would agree, that they may not be the easiest to clean given their general large...

VE Navagation system

I have the sat nav in my series 1 VE Calais. Only used it a couple of times, and although it gets the job done, I found it pretty un-user friendly and figgity. Thanks mate, you're awesome! I hate to be greedy, but anyway you can also do it again with these rims? Similar to the one's you just did, but slightly different. If you can make them just a tad bigger too, as they'll be 20's. No drama if you can't. I appreciate the help as I'm tossing up between...
