Cheaper and better to use a Tomtom/Garmin/Navman, or better still use Waze or Google maps on your phone and bluetooth it to myLink, at least your maps wont be about 3 years out of date.

I bought a s/h genuine towbar/modules/wiring on gumtree I think about $180 and was the heavy duty hayman reese, but I couldn't get the wiring to work and had to get Holden to programme it, we tried a snapon tool but it still didn't work, luckily my dealer did it for free while doing a service...

When they updated my maps 1 1/2 years ago, it didn't take the first time and had to go back, mine has the speed camera locations, railways and school zones, and the firmware update gave me movable guidelines.

Mylink has a mind of it's own, I have mine on shuffle with USB, it plays the same songs out of 1000 or next time I get in the car it is not from where I turned off, or will be the radio. There are no playlists, cleared the lists, swapped USB and still the same.

It might take a day or so, as being between christmas and new year a lot of places aren't open until 6 Jan.

I've got a S2, and it sounds good in sports mode, if you want it quieter, put it back to normal mode via mylink.

Is this easy to do? any chance of a quick tutorial. I have my music on a usb with plenty of artist and songs, but it seems to play the same thing over and over even on shuffle, I've cleared the playlist out of the mylink menu. Cheers

I have the foam crash bar under the house, there is also a module and harness near the battery if it has genuine wiring harness, I put one on my car, if someone is going to rear end me, they're up for a radiator, A/C condenser and a whole bunch of expensive crap.

You will need an interface for the HUD to work as well, which is great for navigation and music, also the navigation to work in the centre dash screen as well, but I hope you do work something out.

Even if you do pay a lot of money to update maps, they will be out of date, lets you know where speed cameras were removed many years ago and not where some have been for years, especially up the M1 from Nerang and Logan in QLD

If you decide to replace unit with original one from GMH, it will cost about $180 for the map upgrades which are still about a year or so out of date. best option, buy a phone mount and use google maps or a cheap GPS with lifetime map updates when they come on special.

Same thing happened with my Calais, was insured for $42K and dropped down to $38K, rang APIA and they increased it back up and was actually cheaper as I told them I have front & rear dash cams now, as I said try and buy one for that money as a replacement.

I had trouble with the voltages in the DOC plug under glove box, I tapped into the side fuse box with a add a fuse for permanent 12V and pulled out centre consul to put a USB charging point for the rear passengers and used the purple wire off cigarette lighter for acc 12V

A mate that works in NRMA told me on some vehicles (VW's) that the computer needs to be told a new battery has been installed as it programs the alternator to charge less as it is a new one, as it senses the battery is getting older it charges more, not sure with Holden.
