I am having the same trouble with mine its just weird, because if it was the switch the interior light would remain on also but it doesnt and the dashboard lights go out...

figured as much just spent 2k on the tranny now cant use it!

Is there an extra senor also do you know? I think on the tranny? will that pose an issue, as im going to have to put the tranny in the vs also as the housing wont bolt up.

Hi has anyone got any tips of the issues i may encounter putting a VT engine into a VS both auto... just wondering about the ECU I have a vt wreck here just wondering if i should remove the ecu incase the vs ecu has issues with the engine.. etc... 1st timer btw... :) Cheers Guys :surprise:

The spec plate states the red car a VT engine is a LN3 Whilst the car beside it a VS ute spec plate states its a LG2??

Hey guys I now have a VT ready to be stripped and put in the VS... sooo im thinking same deal as the vy motor.. ill have to change the tranny boxs too i know that

argh maybe itll work then if i kept me auto and just drop in the engine in, however the tranny i just got rebuilt is in a 6hcd housing which doesnt include the bell housing....

Got it just needed some extra lube :P

Awesome thanks heaps for that wasnt sure if she was going to have compatibility issues, totally planned on the sump gasket, and id just changed the manifold gasket and rear main plate so ill just pull em off the old engine and whack em in the new one if there compatible.. :) Cheers again

Does anyone know if the values rod would make a compression test come back with nothing... or is it something more major, im about to strip her back but not sure weither its worth it, got a mate whos selling me his engine n tranny, hoping its going to fit... so if anyones chasen a 6hcd housing n...

I have the exact same issue... checked battery all good, connections on earthing wire, all good, my inhibitor switch was on the brink so i brought a new one didn't fix it, change a dodgy coil pack, fixed a lead, checked the injectors - #3 issue... continued investigating with a compression test...

Checked the earthing wire?

Um that wouldnt be the fuel pump itll be the flaming engine!! compression test, showd no compression on the #3 spark plug!! FML!! Meanwhile shes got a new coil back and inhibitor switch :| now questions is to rebuilt or 2nd hand.... Heres a link with pics so far...

So trying to change the inhibitor switch except im stuck!! any ideas how to fit it, cant get it down flush to put the bolts in.. Also anyone know what the 4 pin plug is for?

have you got the vt tranny in it atm? i have just had the same issue with my ute brought 3 different trannys and had issues galore! youll find the vt auto the u have to remove the bell house for it to fit, in the internals of the tranny clutch plates etc are all the same being 4l60e i think it...

nope got it sorted though, flaming fuel pump has gone now!!!

Shes home with a recon from the 6hcd got the best plates from the 8fcd ;) got her going now the alternator has gone....

We've stripped all the boxes got the best clutches, plates n stuff OMG you should have seen them, unfortunately my phone was flat so didnt get any pics but wholey cow!! one of the solenoids was even snapped from the wiring harness in the original box, and the balls looked like they had been glue...

oh and you wouldn't believe I put a piston through the fuel injector :|

well the 3 boxes I brought were stuffed, now im just looking at making a good one out of them all, and getting a new set of friction and pressure plates to put in anyone know where I could find them.. covs?

they reckon you have to remove the starter motor to put the 8hfd in and then you have an issue with the bell housing unit. Seriously being a woman SUCKS when it comes to automotive and males... treat you like your freaking stupid... and just see $$$ and little gold bags of greenies!! So wanna...

Wells I just went and pick up a tranny, the guy said it was a 6hcd and on arrival its a freaking 8hfd!!!! HE SWORE black and blue itll fit... I think I just got screwed!!

piece of cake to change have to drop the exhaust, driveline etc out though... don't know of any other 6hdd around??

Outlet Pipe Buggered The difference on the 6hcd compared to the 4hdd is this threaded arm rod for the selector.

We've chucked the 4hdd into it and yes we are having a few issues atm, the senor switch is a different connection however when me mate gets back from over east were going to rewire the switch wiring to fit the 4hdd, and the threading on the gear selector for the tranny was different we've pulled...

Is the wiring harness all ready pre fitted with the connector?

was sitting at 4500 doing 80km, then lost all gears then only second, got it check over by 3 mech they all drove it n said torque convertor n tranny.

Im just going to rebuild it with the part from the 4hdd cant be that hard fixed the horn tonight :P

I cant find it anywhere!! can they run without them?

How do you go about pulling the rubber motor out with busting the seal?
