Throttle controllers, who’s gottem? Love or hate?

So looking at a throttle controller for my vz v6, people seem to rave about the results for what they cost, want to know what people on here think? Have been looking at Revhigh stealth 4 but they have stated it’s coming but won’t say when and haven’t replied to my message so wondering what...

    The Research and Development Thread!!

Although a short term step backwards I think that the long term gains could be great if I understand the difference in the diagnostic language as you mentioned, if it’s a language used by many manufacturers, then it maybe opens the door in the long run for easier programming of other makes and a...

Engine Management Data | Help find some clues

Something as simple as blocked fuel filter or failing pump? Or injectors or fuel reg would be what I’d lean towards otherwise computer, find another computer set to swap in and check maybe

2006 vz front end noise ?

Good to hear you got it sorted, we had a similar thing, was the control rod bush and the strut mount bush/bearing on ours, bearing was non existent when I took it apart.

One time use nuts and bolts in suspension

hey guys, Doing a overhaul on our wagon shortly, new shocks, springs, brake lines, pads and rotors as well as rear bushes, (fronts have recently been done). What I want to know is what nuts and bolts are considered one time use and should be replaced? I think there might be some in the box...

    Alloytec pcv

Will be interested in how this goes, I'm thinking of doing this myself, have cleaned mine out a couple times and always comes back, worse over summer than winter interestingly. I do wonder if it would be possible to link the 2 hoses together into one catch can and block one of the intake breathers.

VZ Alloytec Timing Chain and Other Issues

Have you got a work shop manual? I've got a Gregory's one that I could upload a few photos from if it would help? The only really helpful stuff it's got is how to find tdc and removal, inspection and refitting of timing chains if either of those will help

VZ Alloytec Timing Chain and Other Issues

Looking at that I would suspect the oil line is blocked, or the tensionor has crap in it or it has failed already, it could be a dud even. And the only way you could retime it is to remove chains and start from scratch lining all the dots etc up as you go ensuring you have tdc at the correct time.

VZ Alloytec Timing Chain and Other Issues

I might not hugely familiar but my guesses could be an issue with the chain tensionors, I can't remember if they are hydraulic or not, there is a write up on here somewhere, use search, that helps with the alignment of everything. Also wonder about oil pump, and wether there has been damage to...

I'd love to know as well, been looking at a set of them and they are at a good price.

VZ Alloytech 190 Starter motor click

We had the exact same thing, replaced battery, new key and cleaned contact ring, in the end the starter died completely, got $100 one off eBay and not a problem since. Our other vz is starting to do it so I'll just pick one up soon in preparation for when it dies, might price up a Bosch through...

Will A Vz Sv6 190kw Engine Go Into A Base Model Vz

I'd be interested in how you get on with this, it's something I've debated doing myself, my guess is if the donor car and the good car have the same specs, eg, our 2 cars, the sv6 and our acclaim wagon both have the same bcm and pim models, just different ecm and transmission computers then it...

    Vz starting issues

You have any luck? I haven't done a fuel pump on a Holden but on other cars I've done where they have an integrated fuel pump and filter, I've managed to block the breather or return hose on the pump, not even sure, was a headache to find and fix, could something like this have happened?

It's looking great Taz! Can't wait to get my hands on one! Been holding off getting the body diagnostics in hope of this new cable, fuel gauge cal in one car and the other playing up but the kits off fleabay has a airbag fault code from the car it came out of... sigh. Hope you getting more sleep

    Timing chain? Unsure issue

So I've been doing the searches and keep reading about the same issues and struggling to find my answer (it's probably there somewhere but with 1300 google results I wave the white flag) Our second commodore, a 2004 VZ acclaim wagon started an odd timing chain rattle a couple days ago, never...

Odd issue, need help! Wiring diagram might help?

Soooo time for a curly one :boohoo: I've had our sv6 for about 3 years now and it's given it a bit of grief from different things over the time, it had the wrong bcm in it so we had that replaced as well as an O2 sensor which seemed to fail fairly quickly but haven't fixed it (hope that...

    Body Diagnostics - VT,VX,VY,VZ

Have just brought the ELM obd2 cable, will be great as have a couple issues it might answer. But wondering a couple things with the body diagnostics, will you be packaging everything together into 1 software package at 1 purchase price, even if it's a bit higher in price, doesn't need to be...

Time for a spruce up, help/opinions needed

Hey guys, Our 04 acclaim wagon is coming up to 200k in the next 3 or 4 months and I think it's time to give it a bit or a working over and tidy up/upgrade a few things. We have had it since the mid 140ks and have only had an oil pressure sensor fail so apart form the regular servicing it's...

Questions for installing AVH-X2650BT VZ steering wheel direct connect and reverse cam

Hey mate, thanks heaps for that. Parts finally turned up yesterday (joys of living country), worked a treat! Worth the extra effort with the $2.45 3.5mm plug for the steering wheel controls. I found the reverse wire easily enough, almost overlooked it thinking it would never be that easy. So...

    Pioneer HU into a VY

From my understanding it can only programme 6 functions which is perfect for the vz as it only has 6 switches and no real advantage just cheaper it install, I have a 3.5mm stereo jack from jay car which was less than $5 and a set of harness plugs as I am feeling lazy, I could instal H/U for...

    Pioneer HU into a VY

I'm about to do the same once everything turns up, although I'm going down the route of manually wiring in my steering wheel control as the H/U is programmable. Looks like you have everything you should need, as for rear usb, my preference is as hidden as possibly so if your cradle is next the...

Hey I have purchased a new head unit to go into our VZ wagon, i have been looking through forum to try answer a couple of my questions but haven't found the exact answer I'm wanting so thought id post instead. I've got to wait for Fascia kit to turn up so cant install yet anyhow. 1...

    HID Upgrade

Yea, I hate people who don't dip their lights. The high/low beam H4's are a **** upgrade in my opinion, I'd rather have separate spot lights instead, but for the high beam H1's I wonder if they'd work well, much cheaper than spots.

Dislike of HID's? This is why I ask, I don't need anal lube, I'm open to peoples dislikes as long as they have an alternative to look at.

    HID Upgrade

Hey, has anyone done an HID Upgrade on their vz? Opinions? Results? Issues? I'm thinking of upgrading my high beam bulbs to hid and maybe also the spotlights. The spots are just the factory bumper ones so not sure how they'll go. But definitely keen to do high beams. What about the different...

VZ - Engine Coolant Over Temperature. Protection Mode. Activated. Error ideas?

Hey I'm no mechanic, but I would suggest you start by checking radiator full, first cold with motor off then check again once motor running (while still cold). Then as motor warms up, carefully (due to moving parts) feel the hoses going into and out of radiator, quite often the top hose going...

Achilles ATR Sports 2 - Any good?

Who said I was compramising? That's a personal opinion, archillies have become one of the biggest selling tires in the world in its short life simply because they do great tires for their price range. As for spending a $100 more, why spend it if it's not justified, a car with higher power or a...

Achilles ATR Sports 2 - Any good?

I used to have the original sports back in nz and loved them, best low-mid priced tire I've used. They punch well above there weight for durability, grip, and wet performance.
