I have a VU SS, and at 6' 6" tall I find the seat does not go back as far as I would like. Can I remove the plastic back from the seat without causing issues? Or just take to the rear 'wall' with a rubber mallet ;)

imho - you have everything you need for the conversion - including required wiring looms. I agree (though I don't know for certs) I would expect the engine fitted makes no difference. I reckon good on you, and please, keep us updated on progress!!

It may have been sanded back for painting - if so, removing the paint with thinners and a rag will not fix the problem. Easiest way to remove the paint would be to sand it back - but the only option left would be to repaint it. Depending on which parts we are talking about, maybe replace them...

Just got home, had another squiz - looks like the thermostat-outlet hose (on the outlet side) It looks like an absolute bugger to get to as well - throttle body off? should I replace the thermostat while I am at it or just leave that be?

I just had a squiz in my break - looks like the leak is at the thermostat, which is in an awkward spot on rwd l67s. Anyway, hopefully its the hose or clamp failing and not the housing.

Heater tap is drivers side behind the strut tower. Also, the leak is coming from higher up then the point where the heater tap sits. Its not where the heater hoses go in/out of the firewall - its more to the passenger side - like under the throttle body - though i couldnt see where from. Isnt...
