    VZ Air intake resonator ...

Judging by the one I removed from my VZ Adventra, it will do one thing - collect oil from your PCV blowoff! Mine had about 100mL in it! I did the reverse of what you have done. I replaced the resonator version with a straight version. Wasn't able to measure any difference in performance...

Confused my Alloytec is 175 or 190

BTW, do the resonators on the 190 intake tube have anything to do with power or efficiency, or are they just for noise moderation?

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

Oh, it's definitely due to the raised springs + bigger tyres to some extent, though others with the exact same setup report no ESP panics. It's due for a service in the next week or so. I'll get them to clean the ABS sensors while they're at it. If still no good, I'll try moving the yaw sensor...

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

I think you may have a point. Perhaps stiffening it would not be a good thing. I'm still puzzled that some others who claim to have the identical setup with raised springs & larger tyres are not having my problem. Maybe more investigation... Of course, I could always go back to plan A, which...

Will a regular VZ Commodore REAR sway bar fit a VZ Adventra? What about a FRONT one?

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

No point. It was doing it before I upped the tyre size. It got worse after I increased tyre size, until I increased tyre pressure.

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

They are the correct springs: HOLDEN ADVENTRA VYII VZ 10/2003 - 2006 - Fit your Vehicle - King Springs Automotive Aftermarket Springs They don't specify V6 versus V8. Avalanches were like hen's teeth, but I might have to start looking....

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

Easier said than done. It's an Adventra. The front sway bar is unique to accommodate the AWD. Maybe a rear sway bar would be the same shape as for a VZ Commodore, but I think it's heavier. Someone else suggested I could get one from an Avalanche, but good luck with that, :-\ In any case, I'm...

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

Yes, they add about 10mm to the height on top of the raised springs 30mm or so.

    Doubling a sway bar? (Adventra)

SUMMARY: Can I reduce body roll by doubling the front sway bar? Since I raised the suspension on my VZ Adventra LX6, using Kings Springs, I have had one problem: in a tight corner, the outer front wheel dips down really noticeably. This would be body roll, except that the rear doesn't dip as...

    OBD2 Scanner

Rightly or wrongly, Bitdefender flags that site as being full of malware. Having said that, while generic software reads most stuff, this Holden-specific software does look quite unique.

    Audi Style Headlights

I've had those lights for a while, and I love them. The DRL's are great, and the turn indicators show up much better than the stock ones. The downside is that the high beam setup is very weak compared to the stock setup.

Paint for Black Adventra Vanity Plate?

I recently acquired 2nd hand a black coloured vanity plate (rear license plate surround) for my silver Adventra. These were standard on the CX models, but it looks great on my LX. Changes the whole look of the rear for the better. It's made of plastic, and the paint has been scratched off...

Shuddering when accelerating and a Tapping noise in the engine.

NW Kylee, My car made similar sounds last year when the power steering fluid container was leaking & the fluid was almost gone. When you experience it, it sounds like a serious mechanical problem, (and might become one if you let it go too long) but it's just lack of hydraulic fluid.

Yes, check power steering fluid level, pump and steering rack.

05 Adventra front control arm bush replacement.

Like me, you have an LX6, so the stiffness of the rear self-levelling suspension will be contributing. Yes, after 10 years, the oil-filled ones would probably be stuffed, which is why I started on that journey. I didn't explain myself very well - I replaced ALL the control arms bushes with...

05 Adventra front control arm bush replacement.

I had a suspension place do it. The local mechanic didn't have the equipment. Apparently, it was a bastard of a job. (Maybe because I'd gone to SuperPro & back again)

05 Adventra front control arm bush replacement.

How was the ride after all that? I found that with the big bushes replaced with SuperPro (supposedly softer than Nolathane), the ride was way too harsh. Even my mechanic commented on it. And that was with raised Kings Springs (softer ride) and bigger tyres (more sidewall = softer ride again)...

vz sv6 adventra off road tyres

I have exactly the same setup but with Kumho tyres. They're good, if a bit soft. Ride seems softer and a little bouncier than normal, even at 40 psi. I had to hack my self-leveling suspension so that it wouldn't freak out. (I can now adjust the rear height) Also, the ESP sometimes goes off on...

    New Spark Plugs

Hmmm... the ECU is trying to compensate for running rich. Possible causes: * Leaky fuel injector * Excessive fuel pressure due to bad fuel pressure regulator or restricted fuel return line * Extremely dirty air filter or restrictions in air intake system * Exhaust restrictions (clogged...

    Tyre sizes help needed

I agree. I got some Kumho's a while ago. They are definitely soft; I run them at 38-40 psi and they're still noticeably softer than the Falkens I had running at 34-36 psi. Good tyres, though. Excellent grip, and despite the softness, low rolling resistance.

    Adventra Level-Ride Suspension

Well, even if unused, they'd be old stock. They may have been roughed up in storage. (i.e. thrown into a bin & forgotten for a few years) Or, bearing the failure in mind, they may well have been thoroughly used & abused. What did the supplier claim? I got a replacement set from 4BLOK that...

Tips to improve Adventra fuel economy?

All the alterations will make a difference. I've personally found that the weight of the foot is a huge factor in the Adventra, especially the V6. A small difference in pressure on the pedal can make a surprisingly huge difference.

    Speedometer Calibration Required?

I did a spreadsheet on this a while ago when I fitted larger tyres. 245/35/R19 will give a diameter DECREASE of just under 4% (3.71%) , so the speedometer will display 4% ABOVE the correct speed (probably a little more, since they build a small exaggeration factor into the speedometer). So...

    Vz fuel gauge error

My experience of the fantasy land the VZ fuel gauge inhabits is similar to that of diysv6. I had a brand new VZ Commodore Wagon in 2005; the fuel gauge never worked properly; it always started screaming like Chicken Little if I was pointed uphill or at 20-25 Litres left. I did ignore the...

    VZ Aircon Quit

Last week, I noticed that the A/C cold air wasn't quite as cold as it should be. Then, the day after my 120,000 km service, the engine (or compressor - couldn't tell) would shudder every minute or so, but only when idling with the A/C on. A/C off = no shudder. A couple of days after that...

    VZ Calais Rear Shock Absorbers

The pneumatic self-levellers *are* a little rough. Unless you are regularly towing or carrying heavy loads in the back (or even then), you may wish to just replace them with something decent. You'll need to disconnect / remove the compressor - it does have after-market value. I kept mine on my...
