VY V6 misfiring under load - possibly not plugs or leads

Thanks guys, I'll work through those things. * The problem's happened over several tanks of fuel so I don't think it's just this batch of fuel. * The external fuel filter was replaced at 255k. The in-tank filter's never been cleaned to my knowledge (I've had the car since 2006 @ 80,000km) *...

VY V6 misfiring under load - possibly not plugs or leads

Hi all, My VY V6 is misfiring under load - taking off or accelerating. I had exactly the same problem 4 years ago, and I fixed it by replacing the leads (plugs had been done 4.5 years / 40,000kms ago, so I did the leads which was 4 years / 20,000kms ago). The car's spent quite a bit of time...

Knocking / ticking coming from trans after starting / moving

Thanks for your reply. The trans fluid was low, which is odd as I checked it not too long ago and we've had no leaks. Since topping it back up it seems to be fixed. I'm still puzzled as to what it was and where the fluid went, but provided it stays away I can live with not knowing.

How to change the battery in the key remote?

Yes this can be done. The battery cost me about $2, took about 30 minutes and it didn't lose the code in the remote. I've got a how-to with video here: http://www.themusinggreg.com/how-to/how-to-change-the-remote-control-battery-vr-vz-holden-commodore-1993-2006/

Knocking / ticking coming from trans after starting / moving

Hi guys, My VY V6 has an odd knocking / ticking sound coming from around the transmission. It's as though something at the front of the trans spins up when the engine starts, and once the engine is revved and the car moves a bit and when the engine drops back in revs, this thing starts to spin...

    Ticking lifters gone quiet

Hi, I have an 03 Berlina done about 240k. Did a 10k road trip in 6 weeks and after the first week noticed a ticking sound for a few seconds on startup which then went away. I'm assuming it's the lifters but I don't know. Once we got back it was still ticking on startup and fuel economy was...

VY oil in water, already done valley gaskets

Thanks guys. I tightened the bolts, they were definitely on the loose side, but I don't reckon I used any loctite last time. Didn't have time to tap them all out this time as I kept the plenum chamber on but did manage to torque them all up to the right torque. I hope this was just a case of the...

VY oil in water, already done valley gaskets

Nope haven't cracked anything open yet @edals. I did them up with a torque wrench, I guess it's possible they could have come loose but I hope that wouldn't normally happen?

VY oil in water, already done valley gaskets

Hi guys, I changed the valley gaskets on my VY about 20,000km ago http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vy-holden-commodore-2002-2004/230237-changing-valley-gaskets-what-else.html and it fixed the problem I had, which was oil under the radiator cap. However the oil under the radiator cap has come...

Changing valley gaskets - what else?

Super thanks guys I'll try to track down the right kit. Only phoned one place today and they had either just the manifold gaskets on its own or everything inc the head gaskets! I'll keep searching. When you say "change all the upper gaskets", is that the same as "Injector O-Rings, Rocker Cover...

Changing valley gaskets - what else?

Hi guys, I've got a VY V6 Berlina II wagon and just done its 180k service. After this I sent it to a local mechanic to look at the brakes as the handbrake wasn't working and without a hoist brakes aren't my favourite! Anyway they said there's a bit of sludge under the radiator cap and that...
