Pump is different. Recently had my L77 pump replaced at 270k km's, when it failed me on the first day of the year!

I had a similar issue. When I pressed the release button, I could hear the motor trying, but it just wouldn't open. I replaced the actuator which solved the problem.

More semi pointless info - Stock S1 auto wagon 2.92 diff, 243kph on gps, early 250's on the speedo, somewhere around 4000rpm and climbing at perhaps one km/sec. Could have probably gone 270kph without a limiter. I had it promptly removed but never tried again, praise Jesus.

I wish that I'd never read 9 years ago that lifters need doing by 100k. That statement whether true or false has had free rent in my mind now for 253k! L77 is getting a little noisier these days, but no knocking on startup or anything crazy and it's fairly quiet when warm.

I've had air in the system that caused those symtoms. Also had noticeably more pedal travel than I should and erratic ABS on the limit. Needed an ABS bleed from you know who.

If you have normal to no piston slap, I'd be saying so in your description. Maybe "you've heard the rest, now drive the best, first to hear will buy!". Once the punter does some googling, you'll have them hooked.

According to Oztrack, the FE is 213/219. Regardless, they themselves state that it's aimed at LS1. I have no idea if it really matters, it's probably a nice lil cam in an L77, but there are some not insignificant differences between your heads and valves vs LS1's.

Is there any reason why long skirt pistons can't be used if one was to rebuild? Sleeve and rod length are the same between L77/98 and LS3 are they not? If they are the same, has LS3 pistons got sleeve to spare at BDC, or are long skirt L77 pistons pulling out of the cylinder a bit?
